Yemen’s PM, UK’s Middle East minister discuss ‘military escalation’ by Houthis
Yemen’s Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani has held a phone conversation with the UK’s new Middle East Minister Stephen Doughty to discuss bilateral ties and recent regional developments, including “military escalation” by the Houthi rebel group, according to Yemen’s state news agency.
Al-Zindani expressed concern about the regional security implications of “continued Houthi escalation”, including the group’s attacks on vessels in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait, which he said pose a threat to “global trade, energy security, and freedom of international navigation”.

Yemen’s Houthis fire ballistic missiles at al-Markha
Yemen’s Iran-allied Houthi rebels have targeted al-Markha (Mocha) port with ballistic missiles on Wednesday, according to a Yemeni army source.
At least three missiles hit the port area of the city, and a fourth missile landed in the direction of the al-Barah intersection.
There was no immediate information on the extent of the damage or casualties resulting from the attack, and the Houthis have not claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, at least five missiles landed in the al-Khawkhah area of Hodeidah governorate on Yemen’s western coast,
The sources noted that the missiles were launched from areas controlled by the Houthis, east of Taiz.
