Yemen’s navy says it seized a Red Sea vessel carrying drone-making equipment to Houthis
Yemeni naval forces say they have seized a dhow carrying equipment used to make drones off the coast of al-Makha in the Red Sea.
The naval forces say the equipment, which they said was captured on Wednesday evening, had been smuggled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and was bound for the Houthis, the Aden-based Saba news agency reports.
According to pro-government military media, naval patrols hours later opened fire on five Houthi boats approaching islands overlooking the international shipping lane, forcing them north towards Hodeidah and shooting down a reconnaissance drone.
The waters off al-Makha have become a flashpoint in the escalating conflict between the Houthis and Yemen’s internationally recognised government, with Houthi attacks forcing the Red Sea port to suspend operations.

Yemeni forces say fighter killed on Taiz front lines against Houthis
Yemen’s internationally recognized government says a fighter with one of its factions has been killed on the al-Ahtoub front lines in the western countryside of Taiz governorate, according to Yemen’s army media center.
The fighter, named Mustafa Muhammad Rabash al-Ashmali, was killed on Thursday fighting against the Iran-allied Houthi group in Taiz.
Yesterday, the Houthis fired ballistic missiles at Yemeni government positions in al-Makha (Mocha) west of Taiz.
