Greece to decide whether its Patriot unit remains in Saudi Arabia

Greece’s Defence Ministry is weighing whether to extend or end the deployment of a Greek Patriot unit stationed in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, since September 2021, with an early return to Greece seen as the more likely outcome, Kathimerini reported. The unit has intercepted ballistic missiles and drones fired by Iran and Yemen’s Houthis at energy facilities in western Saudi Arabia since the US war on Iran began.

Tanker struck by unknown projectile off Saudi Arabia: UKMTO

The UK Maritime Trade Operations says a tanker has been struck by an unknown projectile about 63 nautical miles (117km) west of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, causing a fire on the vessel’s main deck.

The ship’s company security officer reported that the crew was safe and accounted for, with no environmental impact.

Houthis say Saudi oil tanker hit by ballistic missile

Yemen’s Iran-allied Houthi group says it has targeted a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea using ballistic missiles.

The group’s military spokesman issued a statement saying an oil tanker named Amzan belonging to Saudi Arabia “was targeted off the coast of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia with a ballistic missile”.

“The missile strike was precise and direct, resulting in a large fire on the vessel,” he said.

There has been no confirmation from Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company confirms vessel attacked in Red Sea

Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company Bahri has confirmed that one of its vessels, the Amzan, was attacked in the Red Sea.

“All crew members are safe with no injuries reported,” Bahri said in a statement shared on social media.

Yemen’s army posts videos of air strikes on Iran-allied Houthis

The armed forces of Yemen’s Saudi-backed government have shared videos of drone attacks against the Iran-allied Houthis.

The Media Centre of the Armed Forces posted three videos on X, saying they show attacks conducted by forces in its sixth and seventh military regions against “Houthi militia groupings” and “Houthi-controlled positions”.

The attack in one video was said to be in Hilan, in the front-line province of Marib, while the location of the two other videos was not specified.
