Yemeni forces carry out drone attacks on Iran-allied Houthi targets
Yemen’s Saudi-backed government has carried out drone attacks on Iran-allied Houthi targets across “various combat fronts”, according to the media centre of its armed forces.
Several videos posted on the media center's social platforms show bombs being dropped from drones on “gatherings, movements and barracks” of the Houthi rebels.

Yemen’s information minister, US diplomat discuss Houthi ‘threat to international security’
Yemen’s Minister of Information Moammar al-Eryani has met Neal H Ophold, the US Embassy’s charge d’affaires in Yemen, according to a statement on X from the US Embassy in Yemen.
Al-Eryani said 12 years of crisis management, rather than addressing root causes, “has proven its limitations”, and let the Houthis grow “from a local threat to a regional one, and then to a threat to international security”. He called instead for “a clear strategy to support the Yemeni state” in restoring “its sovereignty over the remaining territories” held by the Houthis.
He said Yemen’s leadership, alongside “substantial fraternal support” from Saudi Arabia, now presents “a genuine opportunity” to deepen ties with the US and counter Houthi disinformation.
For his part, the US diplomat said the discussion included “the current state of affairs in Yemen, and how countering Houthi lies and propaganda with timely, accurate facts is an important part of the battle”.
The meeting comes as the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, continue to strike shipping in the Red Sea and are seen by Washington as part of the broader network Tehran is using to pressure the US and its allies during the war.

Yemen’s army commander says retaking Sanaa essential to stop Houthi attacks
Tariq Saleh, a member of Yemen’s Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council and the commander of the government’s armed forces, says securing the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb strait hinges on retaking the port city of Hodeidah and the capital, Sanaa, from the Iran-allied Houthis.
In a video message posted on X, Saleh said that “the real battle has not yet begun” against the Houthis.
Yemen represents “the first line of defence” against Iranian projects on the Red Sea and the Arabian Peninsula, he said.
Meanwhile, Yemeni Assistant Defence Minister Major-General Samir Al-Sabri said the armed forces were ready to launch a wide-scale offensive and were waiting on directives from the political command.
He said Yemen’s government has completed all logistical arrangements and preparations for a “decisive battle” against the Houthis.
“The legitimate government is the one that will determine the time and place of the battle,” Al-Sabri said in remarks carried by Yemen’s Taiz News Network.
