Houthi attacks cause injuries, damage in government-held Marib Yemen’s Houthis have launched ballistic missile attacks on the government-held city of Marib, causing injuries and damage to homes and vehicles, according to officials. The Marib governorate, in a post on X, said the Iran-backed group launched four ballistic missiles and four drones targeting residential areas in Marib on Saturday. A fifth missile hit a bakery in al-Sharika neighborhood on Saturday evening, wounding a civilian, the governorate added. Yemen’s Ministry of Information called the strikes a dangerous “escalation”. Further south, government forces said drone strikes killed three Houthi fighters near Taiz, and a separate strike destroyed a Houthi vehicle in Jabal al-Zuhayb. The violence follows a rapid escalation since early August, when Houthi attacks killed at least 30 government soldiers — the conflict’s deadliest episode in years — and further strikes killed civilians in Marib and al-Makha. The UN has warned Yemen faces its highest risk of returning to full-scale war since the 2022 truce.
