World economy in ‘crisis’ amid Strait of Hormuz closure, Turkish FM warns
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is giving a news conference now in Damascus with his Syrian counterpart Asaad al-Shaibani, where he has addressed the economic impact of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
“The region’s and world’s economy has entered a crisis following the events in the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.

Turkey sees ‘vital role’ for Syria over regional energy amid Hormuz tensions
Turkish FM Fidan has said Damascus could play a vital role in regional energy.
“After the recent events in the Strait of Hormuz, we believe that Syria will play a vital role in this regard,” he said from the Syrian capital.
“There is a Syria that connects to the Gulf through Jordan and Saudi Arabia, to Iraq and the East, and to Europe through Turkiye,” the FM continued, saying Turkiye wants these connections “to be built not only on the map but also practically through railways, highways, and pipelines”.

Israel expands incursions in southern Syria
The Israeli military has expanded its military operations in the southern Syrian governorates of Rural Damascus, Quneitra and Deraa.
An Israeli forces patrol of four vehicles pushed into the al-Amal Farms in the northern Quneitra countryside, setting fires there before withdrawing from the area, our colleagues on the ground reported.
Israeli forces also fired seven artillery rounds at the edges of Beit Jin in the western Damascus countryside, before pushing into the town’s southern entrance.
The army set up a checkpoint nearby and searched several farmers.
Israel has escalated raids and artillery shelling across southern Syria despite US-brokered security talks between Damascus and Israel.
