Saudi Arabia condemns Netanyahu’s visit to Israeli-occupied Syria
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned and denounced Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s “illegal entry” into Syria, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
A statement issued by the ministry, published by SPA, called Netanyahu’s visit to Israeli-occupied parts of Syria on Wednesday, “a flagrant violation of its [Syria’s] sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a blatant breach of international law”.
The ministry “stressed the importance of halting Israeli violations and transgressions against Syrian territory and adhering to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, in a manner that preserves the security and stability of the region”.
Netanyahu visited the Israeli-occupied area of Jabal al-Sheikh Wednesday alongside Defence Minister Israel Katz, where he claimed Israel had established unprecedented “absolute control” over the area stretching from Jabal al-Sheikh towards the Yarmouk River.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry labelled the visit an illegal violation of its sovereignty.
