Israeli military claims to have killed Hamas brigade commander in Khan Younis

Israel’s military has said it has killed the Khan Younis brigade commander of Hamas’s Qassam Brigades in an overnight strike in the Khan Younis area.

The Israeli military named the Hamas commander as Muhammad Yazouri. It said two other Hamas fighters were also killed in the same strike.

At least one person killed in Israeli strike on southern Gaza

At least one person has been killed and nine others injured in an Israeli strike on Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.

Despite a “ceasefire” that took effect last October, Israel has conducted near-daily attacks across Gaza. More than 1,300 people have been killed and 4,500 wounded since then.

The latest developments in the Gaza Strip are that one person has been killed and several others injured. Civil Defence teams transported them to Nasser Medical Complex after an air strike targeted a group of Palestinians passing through the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Strip, an area densely populated by displaced people.

This area was also subjected to gunfire from military vehicles positioned inside the Yellow Line, injuring a Palestinian. There were also a number of Israeli breaches and violations yesterday, resulting in eight people killed, as well as heavy artillery shelling in eastern areas under Israeli occupation control

Palestinian sources announced that the commander of the Khan Younis Brigade was killed in an Israeli strike on al-Mawasi, in Khan Younis, yesterday, Mohammed al-Yazouri. Al-Yazouri was commander of the Qassam Brigades’ Khan Younis Brigade. Al-Yazouri assumed the post shortly after the killing of Ezz al-Din al-Haddad and Mohammed Odeh, whom Israel assassinated last May; fewer than ten days separated their assassinations. Al-Yazouri had also served in the intelligence apparatus before the war on the Gaza Strip, before taking over command of the Khan Younis Brigade. Israel killed him yesterday alongside his aide, Hudhayfa Abu Muammar.

• Israeli forces detained at least seven Palestinians in Bethlehem, including journalists Sabri Jibril and Rami Issam al-Amour.
• Israeli forces detained 10 Palestinians in Nablus, including nine from the village of Burqa, after raiding several houses across the governorate and storming Faisal Street in the city center.
• At least five Palestinians were detained in Hebron, where Israeli forces also raided the city center.
• In Tulkarem, Israeli forces used live ammunition while raiding homes in the Kharioush buildings and the town of Baqet al-Sharqiya north of the city, detaining several Palestinians, including Qusay Nidal al-Masoud.
• Troops detained at least two Palestinians in Tubas after raiding their homes in the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah.
• Israeli forces used earthmovers to demolish Muhammad Shaher Awaina’s house in the village of Battir, west of Bethlehem.
• Israeli colonist attacks were also reported in Tubas, Tulkarem and elsewhere in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces carry out dawn raids across occupied West Bank

Israeli forces carried out several new raids at dawn on Friday in the occupied West Bank, including in the Bethlehem and Tulkarem areas, according to the Wafa news agency.

The forces raided family homes in the town of al-Khader, west of Bethlehem, while deploying heavily in Tulkarem city, firing live ammunition and interrogating residents, the agency added.

Israel announces military training to commence across occupied West Bank

The Israeli military says it has begun conducting training exercises in the occupied West Bank to ensure its forces are prepared ahead of the upcoming Jewish holiday period.

In a social media statement, the military said the drill aimed at practising “various surprise scenarios” and would continue through the afternoon across the territory.

It added that the exercise was “planned in advance and that there was no cause for concern regarding an active security incident.”

Israel’s military tells residents of two West Bank homes to evacuate: Palestinian news agency

Israeli forces have delivered evacuation notices to two homes in the town of Beita in the occupied West Bank, telling residents they have 72 hours to leave, according to the Wafa news agency.

Israeli authorities regularly demolish Palestinian homes and structures in the West Bank, often citing administrative reasons. In August, Israeli authorities demolished 155 Palestinian structures, according to the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, displacing 97 people.

 

Colonists hold rituals at Bab al-Rahma cemetery near Al-Aqsa for third week: Jerusalem Governorate

Israeli colonists held group prayers and rituals for a third consecutive week at the Bab al-Rahma cemetery, adjacent to Al-Aqsa Mosque’s eastern wall, including blowing the shofar over Muslim graves under police protection, before the Jewish New Year, the Jerusalem Governorate said.

The governorate said the rituals reflect growing demands from groups to impose religious rites inside Al-Aqsa during Jewish holidays, adding that, when prevented, colonists force their rituals around the mosque’s gates and walls, chiefly at Bab al-Rahma, in what it called an attempt to “create new facts on the ground and expand Judaization efforts targeting the site’s Islamic identity”.

It said the rituals coincided with 409 colonists storming Al-Aqsa a day earlier through the Moroccan Gate, while dozens held public prayers at Bab al-Rahma amid tight restrictions on Muslim worshippers.

The governorate said the cemetery’s proximity to the mosque’s eastern wall gives the rituals particular strategic significance.

It warned that the coming weeks demand heightened vigilance during the upcoming Jewish holiday season, cautioning against their use to expand incursions, impose new rituals, and restrict Muslim worshippers and cemetery staff.

Incursions by colonists, often accompanied by nationalist and religious groups, have grown more frequent and organised in recent years.

Israeli colonists open fire, attack Palestinians near Ramallah

Israeli colonists have opened fire on Palestinians near al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank

According to Marzouq Abu Naim, head of the village council, locals tried to stop colonists from attacking a poultry farm near al-Mughayyir, sparking clashes between the two sides and prompting the Israeli army to intervene. The army used tear gas to disperse locals and protect the colonists.

Nearby, colonists assaulted two Palestinian residents on the al-Ma’rajat road between Ramallah and Jericho. According to one of the victims, Muhyiddin Abu Naim, he and a colleague were returning from work when they stopped to help someone replacing a tire. Colonists then arrived and attacked the men with “sticks” and “sharp tools,” according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa. Abu Naim and his colleague were taken in for treatment after sustaining fractures and bruises, and their vehicle was also damaged.

• Colonists opened fire at Palestinians near a farm east of al-Mughayyir during an attack on a poultry farm.
• Palestine Red Crescent crews treated two people wounded after colonists assaulted them near al-Auja, north of Jericho.
• Colonists attacked homes in Beita, south of Nablus, and stole livestock.
• Israeli forces ordered two families in western Beita to evacuate their homes within 72 hours.
• Israeli forces arrested two Palestinians in Baqa ash-Sharqiya, north of Tulkarem, and another man in Tulkarem city.
• Israeli forces opened fire at a vehicle in al-Bireh, causing it to overturn.
• Colonist raised an Israeli flag on a house being built west of Deir Abu Daif, east of Jenin, days after its owner received a demolition order from Israeli authorities.
