Israeli military helicopters open fire near Gaza’s Jabalia camp

Israeli military helicopters opened fire early on Thursday in the vicinity of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.

The attacks come amid artillery shelling targeting areas across the northern part of the Gaza Strip, Wafa said.

Quoting medical sources, the agency reported that the overall death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has risen to 73,669 since October 7, 2023, with women and children making up the majority of the casualties. A total of 174,652 people have been injured during the same period.

Israeli strikes on Jabalia refugee camp injure several in Gaza

Several people have been injured and taken to Al-Shifa Hospital following Israeli strikes on shelters and tents in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza early today, the Wafa news agency has reported.

Israeli warplanes also launched an air strike near Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, Wafa said.

An Israeli bomber jet dropped a bomb on a house in Al Shati refugee camp

The photo shows the free fall of an US-delivered Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM).

The projectile is a guidance kit that turns standard unguided free-fall gravity bombs into all-weather, precision-guided smart munitions.

The US produces three classes of JDAMs  with the 2,000-pound (warhead) class as the heaviest known as the GBU-31 and weighs about 2,036 to 2,115 pounds with the kit attached.

Between October 7, 2023 and December 22, 2023 alone, the Israelis have used hundreds of US delivered JDAMs.

A year later, researchers found the Israeli use of MK-84 bombs, which is another type of a 2,000 pound bomb.

When we were documenting the 'surrender or starve offensive,'  mastermind by the Israeli retired general Giora Eiland, the massive use of these bombs prompted us the conclude the scale of use as an act of crimes against humanity.

The use of these bombs on such a scale on Gaza is not collateral but intentional causing damage/destruction.

Four Palestinians have been killed and others wounded by Israeli gunfire outside Israel’s areas of deployment north of Gaza.

Israeli army kills 4 members of the same family in Gaza

An Israeli air attack killed four Palestinians in the town of Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.

The victims were all one family – a man, his wife, and their two daughters, witnesses are saying.

They were killed in their house in an attack just past midnight. Their bodies were transferred to al-Shifa Hospital.

Despite a “ceasefire” that took effect in October 2025, Israel has conducted near-daily attacks across Gaza. More than 1,300 people have been killed and 4,500 wounded since then.

Negotiations to move forward on a peace process have largely stalled. Major sticking points have emerged over Hamas’s disarmament and Israel’s withdrawal – and which should come first.

Gaza family killed by Israel while sleeping in destroyed building

Another sad day here in Gaza as an entire family has been killed by Israeli forces. It was the Hamad family.

The victims include Bana, 8, Lana, 12, and their mother and father. They were living in a partially destroyed building as they could not find a better place to shelter.

They came under attack without prior warning. Israeli forces used to give people a couple of minutes to flee before launching air raids, but today they were killed in their sleep just after midnight.

The deadly attack comes during an intensifying wave of Israeli violence over the past few days in the Gaza Strip.

UN warns of insufficient humanitarian supplies in the Gaza Strip

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric has warned that critical supplies in the Gaza Strip are insufficient because of funding cuts and continued restrictions on UN partners to replenish them.

Speaking at a news briefing, he said an Israeli strike on Tuesday that targeted a building in Bureij refugee camp near Deir el-Balah hit two UN schools and a UN-supported bakery. The air strike resulted in 100 families losing their homes and possessions.

Civilians must always be protected along with their “shelters and humanitarian facilities”, Dujarric said.

• A separate drone attack on the Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City has wounded several people, some seriously.
• Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City announced that its main generator has stopped working because of a shortage of fuel and spare parts. The hospital has suspended imaging services, postponed surgeries and reduced medical responses.

Israeli shelling kills Palestinian engineer in southern Gaza

Hudaifa Hamdi Mamar, a Palestinian engineer, has been killed in Israeli attacks near Khan Younis in Gaza, according to Palestinian sources.

The Palestinian Dialogue Forum (PALDF) says Israel killed Mamar while shelling residential areas in the al-Mawasi district west of Khan Younis.

Israel has intensified shelling and strikes across Gaza in recent days, with rising casualties.

Amnesty official condemns reported abuse of detained Gaza Dr Abu Safia

Amnesty International’s senior director for research, advocacy, policy, and campaigns, Erika Guevara Rosas, has expressed profound concern regarding the treatment of Dr Hussam Abu Safia in Israeli custody.

Officials are “deeply alarmed by reports that [Dr Hussam Abu Safia] has been subjected to repeated beatings, deliberate sleep deprivation, and threats aimed at preventing him from speaking about the conditions of his detention”, Guevara Rosas said on X.

“Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release” Abu Safia “and all Palestinians arbitrarily detained”, she said, adding that urgent measures are required to ensure accountability and respect for human rights.

Guevara Rosas further stressed that pending his release, the Israeli Prison Service must guarantee that Abu Safia is “fully protected from torture and other ill-treatment, granted urgent access to adequate and independent medical care, and allowed immediate visits by independent monitors”.

Tunisian flotilla activists remain jailed as hunger striker worsens

Six months after Tunisian authorities began arresting organisers of a pro-Palestinian flotilla, four activists remain in pre-trial detention, with growing concern over the health of one of them, who has been on hunger strike for more than three weeks.

Wael Naouar, a Tunisian activist and member of the steering committee of the Global Sumud Flotilla, began his hunger strike on August 16 to protest his continued detention.

His lawyer, Bassem Trifi, who is also president of the Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH), said on Tuesday that Naouar was entering his 24th day without food and described his condition as “very serious”.

UK shift in stance on Israeli occupation ‘potentially seismic’: Francesca Albanese

The UN’s special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory, Francesca Albanese, has welcomed a UK-led ban on illegal Israeli settlement exports but said it doesn’t go far enough.

Albanese said that while the shift in policy was “potentially seismic”, it should not be limited to the occupied West Bank.

“The occupation entails East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. It’s wrong to see it only limited to the West Bank,” she said.

“The occupation, as recognized by the International Court of Justice in 2024, is unlawful and is totally and unconditionally to be dismantled. And also recognition of the work of the commission of inquiry which has concluded that Israel is committing genocide.”

She said the export ban could force Israel to “stop their criminal activities in what remains of Palestine”.

“It’s an incredible change, at least of language, at least of scenery, so thank-you, UK government,” she said.

Pakistan and Turkiye reaffirm support for Palestine

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has spoken over the phone with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on bilateral relations and regional developments.

In a statement posted on X, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that both sides affirmed their position on Palestine and their support for the joint statement by the eight Arab-Islamic countries on the UK’s decision to ban illegal Israeli settlement imports.

Israeli forces raid town near Bethlehem, occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have raided the town of Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, in the early hours of Thursday, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Forces set up a military checkpoint in the centre of the town, triggering confrontations with local youth, Wafa said. It added that soldiers chased young men through neighborhood streets, fired sound grenades, and detained a 24-year-old resident, who was taken to an undisclosed location.

Heavy deployments of soldiers also raided areas surrounding local homes, as well as the al-Amour neighborhood, where troops continued to chase young men.

The Israeli forces withdrew from the town towards its western entrance after a raid lasting approximately two hours, Wafa said.

Israeli forces arrest 15 in raid on Burqa in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have arrested 15 Palestinians during a dawn raid on the town of Burqa, in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that soldiers stormed the town for six hours, raiding homes and arresting their owners before withdrawing.

The agency lists the names of detainees, among them the father of Ahmed Saif, a Palestinian man shot dead by Israeli forces during a 2022 raid on the town.

Burqa, which lies northwest of Nablus city, has been subjected to frequent attacks by settlers and soldiers in recent weeks, as well as numerous home demolitions.

More than 100 arrested in occupied West Bank in a week

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society says Israeli forces arrested more than 100 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank over the past week, including children, women, former prisoners, and journalists.

The society noted ongoing raids have been accompanied by widespread abuse, field interrogations, and extensive property destruction.

The mass arrests come during a surge in violence across the occupied territory, with Israeli settler pogroms reaching unprecedented levels. Palestinians accuse Israeli authorities of failing to protect them against these rising pogroms.

Israeli forces detain Palestinian man east of Qalqilya

Israeli forces detained a young man from the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, in the occupied West Bank and seized his truck, the Wafa news agency reports.

According to local sources, Israeli troops stormed the town from its northern entrance towards al-Muntar neighborhood, detained Salloum Radwan for hours, and seized his vehicle.

Army raids coincide with rising assaults by Israelis from illegal settlements. According to the United Nations, at least 76 Palestinians, including 18 children, have been killed in the territory this year, and some 3,800 people have been displaced.

The UN recorded more than 1,450 pogroms resulting in roughly 1,040 injuries, while the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission estimates the total number of violent incidents exceeds 6,000.

Israeli settlers target crops, irrigation network east of Tubas

Israeli settlers destroyed crops and an irrigation network east of Tubas in the occupied West Bank, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.

The head of the Yirza village council, Mukhlis Masa’id, was quoted as saying that settlers attacked the local thyme crop, removed and stole a fence and destroyed irrigation networks in the northern community astride the Jordan Valley.
