South Africa accuses Israel of violating ICJ orders in new dossier

South Africa has submitted a dossier to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) highlighting what it has described as Israel’s violations of provisional measures issued by the court in 2024.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) announced on Friday that it had submitted the dossier, saying it was done to “protect the Palestinian people’s rights under the Genocide Convention”.

In a statement, the department said South Africa would continue to “pursue all avenues available to it to seek Israel’s full and immediate compliance with the Court’s orders”.

The ICJ issued Israel with several provisional measures in 2024, including a direction to “take all possible measures to prevent genocidal acts as outlined in Article 2 of the 1948 Genocide Convention”. While orders are legally binding, the court has no police to enforce them.

The ICJ has not yet commented on the dossier.

How Israel brought the people of Gaza to famine, then back again

In a post on X, the president of Refugees International highlights data showing the correlation between Israel’s blockade of food into Gaza and the August 2025 declaration of famine that followed, as well as the impact of a deal to finally allow food back into the enclave.

Israel should not be celebrated for improving nutrition rates among the people of Gaza, because it was Israeli actions that caused the crisis in the first place, said Jeremy Konyndyk.

“If you hold someone’s head underwater, they start to drown. If you let them up for air, it doesn’t somehow mean you hadn’t been drowning them!”

The root of how famine is brought into Gaza is a plan that the Israelis with Cyprus were masterminding in November 2023. That plan was finalized in Tel Aviv a month later and presented to France, and later to the EU head Ursula von der Leyen, as a humanitarian plan proposed by Cyprus.

The Israelis were seeking for a complete takeover of humanitarian coordination by UNRWA. The closure of all crossings along the Gaza border was part of that plan.

The Israelis and Cyprus came with a "corridor" from the island state to Gaza's coast but exactly there where the Israeli Netzarim corridor ended at the beach. It was simply a bypassing UNRWA.

Biden joined that plan in January 2024 by delivering a floating platform built at the shoreline where the Israeli Netzarim corridor ended. "Aid" from Cyprus were offloaded on that platform and loaded into trucks. We have photo and video evidence showing that the trucks were Israeli. Von der Leyen joined in May 2024 by taking care that "aid" is send by organizations in Europe to Cyprus then shipped by vessels from organizations colluding in the bypass campaign.

Critics at that time were saying that aid supply via this corridor was inefficient, as it consumed too much time with less number of trucks per day. They failed to realize that it was about a plan masterminded by the Israelis with Cyprus.

In May 2024, a storm destroyed Biden's floating platform and the campaign against UNRWA failed. But the Israelis refused to let humanitarian aid over land resuming.

This is how the Israelis (with Cyprus, and in a way also US and the EU) brought famine into Gaza.

Amnesty International has condemned the Israeli cabinet statement to treat balloons and kites flown in Gaza as military drones, saying the move “further strips away any prospects for moments of joy for children in Gaza”.

Children in the enclave were “denied a childhood by Israel’s ongoing genocide”, the human rights group added.

Amnesty called on other countries to act. “No more impunity for Israel’s disregard for international law.”

Their statement was in response to the threat to expel Palestinians from areas in Gaza where kites or balloons were being flown by Defence Minister, Israel Katz.

An Israeli drone attack on vehicles in the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip has caused casualties, according to a source with Gaza’s ambulance and emergency services.

There were no immediate details on the number or condition of the injured.

At least six Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza over past 24 hours

Israeli artillery shelling with initial reports indicating that it is coming from southeast of the Zeitoun in Gaza City. At least three mortar shells were fired, followed by loud explosions, with clouds of smoke appearing over the area.

The situation remains deeply concerning for Palestinians across the enclave, with six Palestinians reported killed in Israeli fire [over the past 24 hours], including drone attacks. Five were killed yesterday.

Three of those killed were members of the same family in Khan Younis. Others were killed in separate attacks in Gaza City, while several people were also reported injured and taken to al-Shifa Hospital.

It comes amid a fragile ceasefire, with concerns that it will not continue to hold as long as Israel continues to violate the terms of the agreement. According to reports, there have been more than 4,700 Israeli violations of the ceasefire.

Latest Israeli attacks increases Gaza death toll

At least nine Palestinians have been killed and 18 injured in new Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past 48 hours, according to the health ministry.

One body was recovered from the rubble of previous Israeli attacks, the ministry statement said.

It added that Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 73,449 Palestinians and injured 174,472 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,313 were killed and 4,361 injured since last year’s “ceasefire”.

Israeli drone attacks hospital compound in central Gaza

An unidentified number of Palestinians have been injured in an Israeli drone attack on a tent inside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital complex in Gaza’s central city of Deir el-Balah, according to our colleagues on the ground.

Separately, the Palestine Information Center reported that an Israeli quadcopter dropped an explosive device behind Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

An Israeli drone attack in Gaza City’s Tal al-Hawa neighborhood has killed at least one Palestinian person and injured two others, according to the Wafa news agency.

The casualties have been brought to al-Quds Field Hospital, the report said.

Israeli military claims it ‘struck Hamas military wing commander’ in Gaza hospital attack

The Israeli army has issued a statement regarding its attack on the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital complex in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah city, claiming that it struck an alleged Hamas military wing commander.

Its statement did not name the victim or offer any evidence to support its claim.

Earlier, an unidentified number of Palestinians were injured in the Israeli drone attack on a tent inside hospital complex. The director of the hospital that three people were injured in the attack.

“The strike was conducted in order to remove the threat posed,” the army claimed.

The war crime amounting claim is bases on the Israeli armed war belligerent's directive "Treat everyone and everything that moves and not move as Hamas," which has been reintroduced after October 7, 2023.

In most cases, so not all, the Israeli armed belligerent does not provide the name of the person it claims he was a whatever member of Hamas.

But in nearly all cases, Hamas did not confirm the death and when the deceased has been named.

Israeli military claims to kill Hamas sniper, special forces commander

In a statement, Israel’s military says it carried out attacks in Gaza yesterday that killed a commander in Hamas’s Nukhba special forces unit, as well as a Hamas sniper.

The Israeli military named the individuals, who it said were also involved in supplying weapons to Hamas, as Hani Abd al-Hai Fakhri Mazloum and Hassan Zidan Hassan Deiri.

The statement said Israeli troops would “continue to operate to remove any immediate threat”.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported earlier that at least nine Palestinians had been killed and 18 wounded in Israeli attacks across the enclave within 48 hours.

Two Palestinians, including teen, wounded in Israeli raid on West Bank camp

Two Palestinians, including a minor, have been injured after being shot by Israeli soldiers during a raid on the Am’ari refugee camp in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, Wafa news agency reports.

A 15-year-old was shot in the back, while a young man was shot in the leg, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said, adding that it transferred both injured Palestinians to hospital after treating their wounds.

Israeli forces arrest three Palestinians in occupied West Bank’s el-Bireh, Beitunia cities

Israeli forces have arrested three people from the Ramallah and el-Bireh governorate in the occupied West Bank, according to the Wafa news agency.

According to local sources, soldiers arrested Amir Shehab, 23, and Muhammad Fadi Khalaf, 25, during their raid on the Am’ari camp in the city of el-Bireh.

The third man, identified as Ramallah at-Tahta resident Ahed Ibrahim Hamayel, 25, was arrested in the city of Beitunia.

Israeli settlers injure two elderly Palestinians in occupied West Bank’s Silwad

Israeli settlers have attacked and injured two elderly sisters in the occupied West Bank town of Silwad, northeast of Ramallah, according to the Wafa news agency.

According to local sources, settlers attacked Mona and Alia Mahmoud Hamed, aged 75 and 65, while they were picking figs from their land, and severely beat them, causing bruises and wounds. The settlers also stole their phones and the key to their car.

According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli soldiers and settlers carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinians, their lands and properties in July alone.

The commission found that the attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah and el-Bireh, with 260 attacks, Nablus with 247, Jenin with 190, Bethlehem with 185, and Hebron with 170.

Israeli settlers surround yet another Palestinian home in West Bank’s Qusra village

Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli forces, have surrounded a Palestinian home in the village of Qusra, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

At least four Palestinians are inside the home, which belongs to Loui Beiruti, while settlers have set fire to nearby land. Coordination is under way to allow ambulances to reach the area and evacuate one injured person.

Qusra has faced an escalating campaign of settler violence over the past month.

Settlers set fire to a mosque in the village in July, and since August 9 have besieged three Palestinian homes in the Ras al-Ain area, cutting access to water, electricity and other essential supplies.

Israeli forces have also restricted Palestinians from entering and leaving the area.

Footage shows Israeli settlers cut fences of Palestinian farm in occupied West Bank

Israeli settlers cut through the fences surrounding a Palestinian farm and homes in the Bedouin community of Khallet Al-Hummus, south of the town of Yatta, in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC).

Settler attacks continued this morning with two sisters being injured in the town of Silwad, northeast of Ramallah, while other settlers besieged a number of Palestinians in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus.

Israeli settlers attack foreign journalists, smash their vehicle in occupied West Bank

Israeli settlers have attacked a Palestinian family and foreign journalists in the occupied West Bank village of Jalud, according to the Wafa news agency.

Wafa quoted Bashar al-Qaryouti, an anti-settlement activist in southern Nablus, as saying that settlers attacked Mahmoud al-Toubasi, his wife and a media crew. They were with the family near the house they had been forced to flee from months ago.

The settlers smashed the press crew’s vehicle and beat them, the activist added.

Israeli forces attempting to arrest besieged Palestinians in Qusra

The mayor of Qusra, Abdul Azim Wadi, said that Israeli forces are attempting to arrest Palestinians who are besieged inside a house in the village.

Wadi explained that the settlers were continuing to besiege homes for the 21st day and that soldiers were preventing the transfer of injured people from a house that was being besieged in the Ras al-Ein area of the village.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society also said that settlers attacked an ambulance while it attempted to reach a besieged house in Qusra.

‘Israeli settlers move freely’ in West Bank, while Palestinians struggle to protect property

The latest Israeli settler attacks in Qusra are part of an escalating campaign of settler violence that is making daily life in the occupied West Bank increasingly painful for Palestinian residents, journalist Sarah Abu Alrob said.

Alrob also said attacks on Palestinian property in the occupied territory have become a “daily” routine.

“Palestinians wake up to dozens of reports of attacks all over the occupied West Bank – including Israeli settlers attacking Palestinians physically, destroying their belongings and stealing their livestock,” she said.

“It makes it really difficult for Palestinians to sustain their livelihood and protect their houses, while Israeli settlers are able to move freely and occupy more and more land,” she added.

Responding to the latest report of Israeli settlers besieging a Palestinian home in Qusra, Alrob said: “When Israeli settlers attack a specific house or area, they do not just aim to take over the one establishment. Their larger goal is to take over the whole surrounding area.”

Israeli military says it removed ‘Israeli rioters’ from Qusra

Israel’s military and border police have issued a joint statement, saying they responded to reports of “violent clashes” involving “Israeli rioters” in the occupied West Bank village of Qusra, where Israeli settlers have besieged a Palestinian home.

The statement by Israeli authorities said dozens of rioters had “barricaded themselves inside a Palestinian home”, and that several Palestinians, including a woman, were reportedly injured. It said there were also reports of “stone-hurling toward Palestinians”.

Israeli forces removed the Israeli rioters from the home and confiscated their vehicles, the statement said. Israeli forces plan to remain in the area to “prevent further disturbances and restore order”, it added.

Earlier, Qusra Mayor Abdel Azim Wadi told Al Jazeera that Israeli forces on the scene had attempted to arrest Palestinians who were besieged in the home.

Palestinian Foreign Ministry warns against escalating Israeli settler attacks in West Bank

In response to escalating attacks from Israeli settlers, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement, condemning the siege on al-Mughayyir village and demanding urgent international action to protect its residents.

The ministry strongly condemned Israel’s “invocation of displacement and extermination policies” in the village northeast of Ramallah and warned that the recent escalation reflects a policy based on “killing, terrorism, and forced displacement”.

Suffocating siege measures were imposed on the village about 20 days ago, concurrent with random targeting of citizens, besieging it militarily and economically, the statement said. It added that the siege of al-Mughayyir village comes “in the context of systematic escalation targeting the Palestinian presence in the village”.

The legal and political cover for Israeli settlers opens an escalatory path where it may become difficult to control its repercussions, making urgent international intervention necessary to halt this path, the statement said.

Israel threatening one of Jerusalem’s oldest still-operational educational institutions

Yesterday, Israeli troops had withdrawn from the Qalandiya Training Center in occupied East Jerusalem, but overhead, an Israeli drone still hovered in the sky, likely filming and monitoring any activity below.

For now, occupied East Jerusalem’s last remaining vocational training center remains off-limits to Palestinians. The Israeli troops are threatening to storm it at any time.

Looking through the UNRWA center’s main gate, the aftermath of a previous Israeli raid was evident: Shattered glass, the remnants of metal and charred ground.

The training facility show classrooms ransacked, doors smashed and workshops abandoned.

Israeli forces have fired live ammunition and tear gas after Palestinians confronted settlers in the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian home under attack by Israeli settlers in Qusra because of residents’ attempt to protect property

A fourth house under construction in Qusra came under attack by Israeli settlers today because of an attempt by six Palestinian residents to install protection measures, journalist Sarah Abu Alrob is reporting.

The residents were heading to the house to install metal nets to protect the property from escalating Israeli settler attacks, including the throwing of stones and ignited materials.

The Israeli army arrived at the scene and threw tear gas at the Palestinians inside, injuring the owner of the house.

“Afterwards, instead of removing the Israeli settlers, the Israeli army arrested the six Palestinians,” Alrob says. She added that they were later released.

The fourth house is located about 300 meters (roughly 985 feet) from the three other Palestinian homes that have been besieged for more than three weeks now, she says.

“The larger goal of the Israeli army and settlers is to isolate the whole area where the three Palestinian houses … are located.”

Israeli settlers assault Palestinians, damage property in more West Bank towns: Palestinian news agency

Israeli settlers have carried out several new attacks in the occupied West Bank, including in the villages of Burqa and Arrabeh, reports the Wafa news agency.

In Burqa, Israeli settlers attacked local farmers, including firing shots in their vicinity, and tried to burn one of their vehicles, said Wafa.

In Arrabeh, Israeli settlers brought their livestock to graze in local olive groves and also assaulted local residents, according to the agency.

Netanyahu condemns settler attacks as scrutiny grows over Israeli authorities’ role

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned what he described as “criminal acts of violence” by a small number of settlers in the occupied West Bank villages of Qusra and Jalud.

“I expect law enforcement officials to arrest the rioters and bring them to justice as soon as possible,” Netanyahu said, adding that their actions harm “law-abiding” settlers, obstruct the Israeli military and damage Israel’s international standing.

Israeli settlement practices in the occupied West Bank have been deemed illegal under international law.

His comments came after dozens of masked settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Qusra. Witnesses told Reuters that when Israeli forces arrived, they fired tear gas into one of the homes and detained Palestinian residents. No settlers were detained at the scene, according to Reuters.

Earlier this month, settlers also surrounded several homes in Qusra, cutting off water and electricity and blocking access to the families inside.

The incidents come amid growing scrutiny of the role of Israeli authorities in settler violence. In a January report, the UN Human Rights Office said “state and settler violence” appeared to form part of policies and practices aimed at expanding Israeli control and settlements in the occupied West Bank, adding that government support for settlers, including through security forces, had increased in recent years.

Israeli settlers attack and injure NBC News crew in occupied West Bank

Israeli settlers have attacked and injured an NBC News crew and a Palestinian woman in the occupied West Bank town of Jalud.

NBC News reported that the attack occurred when four journalists from the United States broadcaster were interviewing a Palestinian woman and her family after being driven out of their home by Israeli settlers.

A car with an Israeli licence plate drove in reverse to approach the group during the TV interview, and at least four masked men jumped out, hitting them with sticks and throwing rocks, NBC News said.

NBC News quoted its international news correspondent Matt Bradley, who was treated at a nearby clinic after the attack: “They jumped out, beat us, then jumped back in the car.”

It stated that three additional members of the team were also injured and treated after the attack.

Israel’s Smotrich ‘proud to destroy idea of Palestinian state’

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has said he is proud to lead the construction of Israel’s so-called “E1” settlement plan, which rights groups warn will effectively sever Palestinian territory in two.

“I am proud to be the minister who leads the construction in E1 and destroys the idea of a Palestinian state,” wrote Smotrich, who also oversees Israel’s Settlement Administration within the Defense Ministry, in a post on X.

Smotrich added that as long as is an Israeli minister, a Palestinian state “will not be established in Judea and Samaria”, using the Israeli government’s preferred name for the occupied West Bank.

Israel’s E1 plan would create a continuous Israeli settlement “corridor” between occupied East Jerusalem and the large settlement of Ma’ale Adumim, 7km (4.5 miles) east of Jerusalem. This would further disrupt Palestinian movement between the northern and southern West Bank, and isolate communities on each side. It is illegal under international law.

Qusra resident says Palestinians remain besieged as settler attacks continue

A resident of the occupied West Bank town of Qusra, has said that settlers are continuing to attack Palestinian homes without intervention from Israeli forces.

“We are the ones being punished by the Israeli army through the siege, not the settlers,” the person said.

The resident added that the people remain concerned about renewed settler attacks, saying Palestinians in the town have no protection.

Shin Bet says Netanyahu’s son returned to Israel after ‘significant threat’ in US

Israel’s Channel 12, citing domestic security agency Shin Bet, reports that Yair Netanyahu, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was urgently returned to Israel from Florida after what the agency described as a “significant threat” to his life.

According to the report, Shin Bet assessed the threat and decided he should be quickly moved back to Israel in coordination with his security team.

Channel 12 also reported that Shin Bet personnel who were in New York with Israeli President Isaac Herzog were sent to Miami to help carry out the operation.

The Shin Bet’s confirmation comes after reports that the return took place in December 2025, when Israeli intelligence allegedly uncovered an Iranian plot to assassinate Yair Netanyahu while he was living in Florida.

Turkey slams Israeli FM’s comments on Erdogan

Ankara has denounced recent comments by the Israeli Foreign Ministry accusing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of spreading “false blood libels”, saying that “lies and slander” reflected the mentality of the Israeli government.

“The lies and slanders targeting our President in the statement issued by the Israeli Foreign Ministry reflect the cowardly and rotten mentality of the criminals serving in the Israeli government, particularly Netanyahu,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated earlier that the Turkish president had destroyed his country’s democracy, supported Hamas, and invaded neighboring countries.

“Like the worst anti-Semites in history, Erdogan seeks to deflect attention from his own disgraceful actions by spreading false blood libels,” the Israeli ministry posted on X.

Turkey has maintained an honest stance against the crimes committed by Israel, the Turkish ministry said.

Israeli institutions that operate similarly to “Goebbels’ propaganda machine” are not sufficient, and the international community no longer believes the Netanyahu government’s “lies”, the ministry added.

“We will continue to defend and voice the truth,” the statement said.

Trump gov’t unconstitutionally silencing Israel’s critics, federal judge says

A federal judge in California says the US government is unconstitutionally silencing critics of Israel’s war on Gaza and others as part of the Trump administration’s quest to deport non-citizens who protested on college campuses against Israel’s actions.

Judge Noel Wise, in a ruling on Friday, delivered a victory for The Stanford Daily, the student newspaper at Stanford University, which has said that some international students were afraid to speak out because of the threat of deportation.

“Freedom of speech is illusory if we are only ‘free’ to express complementary views about the government and its leaders,” the judge wrote.

Wise wrote that the freedoms of speech and the press are “foundational to America’s enduring democracy”.

George Porteous, the editor-in-chief of The Stanford Daily, responded to the ruling by saying on X: “The reporters in our newsroom shouldn’t have to fear that writing a story will result in their deportation. Today’s victory means they won’t have to.”
