In a statement, the centre clarified that the message raises “serious safety concerns”, pointing out that assaults following lawyer visits function as “a pressure tactic to silence him regarding prison violations”.

According to the message, the statement added, Abu Safia has faced “continuous sleep deprivation through nighttime loudspeaker noise” alongside prior injuries to his “head, face, left eye and chest”.

Al-Quds Brigades fighter killed during clashes with Israeli-backed fighter group in Gaza, says group

The al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, says one of its fighters has been killed during clashes with a group backed by Israel in southern Gaza.

The Brigades said the group tried to capture one of its fighters in the city of Khan Younis, causing clashes to break out.

It added that the armed group was supported by Israeli drones.

Netanyahu has admitted to funding armed groups in Gaza to fight Hamas. At least one of these groups was believed to have ties with the ISIS (ISIL) group.

The Israeli army says its forces have killed a commander from Hamas’s special forces unit in Khan Younis.

In a post on X, the army said that Muhammad Mahmoud Marshad al-Qadi had participated in the October 7 attacks and was partly responsible for hostages held by Hamas in Rafah.

The army alleged that he was helping rebuild the group’s military capabilities.

Israeli military intensifies Gaza attacks with drone attacks and demolitions

Israeli attacks have continued in the Gaza Strip, and this morning there were reports of ongoing machine-gun fire in areas adjacent to the “Yellow Line”.

The worst of the attacks are in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, mainly in Khan Younis, where the Israeli military carried out huge demolition operations on the remaining public facilities and residential buildings – an attempt to clear the area of any physical structures left by people, creating vast fields of rubble and giving the military a way to set up watchtowers across the Strip, where drones hover.

A drone attack hit a group of people in the al-Mawasi area, which is supposed to be safe for displaced Palestinians. Five people were reported injured. One is in critical condition and, according to medical sources, the person had to be transferred to Nasser Medical Complex for major surgery, and there is little hope that they’re going to make it.

Earlier this morning, a group of Israel special forces infiltrated into al-Qarara area in the eastern part of the city of Khan Younis and, from point-blank range, executed a Palestinian in the house that he was sheltering in.

The drones continue to hover, the heavy artillery can be heard from a far distance, and the attacks have not stopped.

The Israeli prime minister, just a couple of days ago, was visiting the northern part of the areas largely controlled by the Israeli military and said it’s not withdrawing and will do everything possible to push Palestinians out of the area.

For many people here, it just confirms one truth: There is no ceasefire from the Israeli military, despite the many talks and statements about it, and about stability and an opening.

Israel’s Ben-Gvir unveils $20bn plan to relocate Gaza population

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has unveiled a proposal to relocate nearly two million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip over a seven-year period, Israel’s Channel 14 reported on Thursday.

Dubbed ‘Disengagement 710’, the framework sets incremental targets for what Ben-Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit party describes as “voluntary emigration”. It seeks the departure of 250,000 residents in its first year, 1.1 million within three years and approximately 1.9 million within seven years.

According to Channel 14, the plan hinges on establishing a dedicated Emigration Ministry with its own budget, minister and international negotiating body. Otzma Yehudit has declared the creation of the ministry as a non-negotiable coalition demand for joining any future government following upcoming elections.

Potential destinations examined during preliminary work include Turkiye, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and several Arab states. The plan outlines absorption support packages covering travel, housing and job training for up to 24 months, funded directly by the Israeli state, alongside international matching frameworks.

EU ‘rejects’ forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza

The European Union has rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from Gaza, Anadolu agency is reporting.

European Commission spokesperson Christian Wigand said at a news conference on Friday that “we reject any attempt at demographic or territorial changes in the Gaza Strip”.

“There should be no forced displacement of Gazans. Gaza is part and parcel of a future Palestinian state,” he added.

His statement comes as Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz and national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir have pushed plans to forcefully remove Palestinians from the Strip.

Forced displacement is illegal under international law and could constitute a war crime.

Palestinian rights group condemns Israeli minister’s Gaza ‘migration’ remarks

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights has condemned remarks by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who said a plan to relocate large numbers of Palestinians out of Gaza “by sea, land and air” was ready and awaiting a green light from the United States.

Katz told a news conference on Wednesday that “there is no real solution for Gaza without this migration”. He said that US President Donald Trump had paused but not shelved the plan and that Israel was prepared to move people out “by every way possible”.

The centre said in a statement on Friday that the comments, combined with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statement that Israeli forces control about 60 percent of Gaza and will not withdraw, pointed to a deliberate effort to alter the territory’s demographics. It said any removal of Palestinians – forced or under humanitarian cover – would constitute an unlawful forcible transfer.

The rights group cited Health Ministry figures reporting that 73,470 Palestinians were killed and 174,540 injured since the war began. It said reconstruction had not started amid Israeli restrictions on construction materials, with more than 80 percent of buildings damaged or destroyed.

US rejects Israeli suggestions of removing Palestinians from Gaza

In a rare public display of disagreement with Israel, the United States has rejected calls by top Israeli officials that the Palestinian population should be removed from Gaza.

Asked about Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz’s call for de-populating Gaza as the only “solution” to the crisis, the US State Department reiterated Washington’s commitment to President Donald Trump’s 20-point “peace plan” that established the “ceasefire” last year.

“As explicitly stated in Point 12 of the President’s plan: ‘No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return. We will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better Gaza’,” a State Department spokesperson told Al Jazeera in a statement on Friday.

“The United States does not support any plan or proposal for the forced displacement, expulsion, or mandatory transfer of the population of Gaza,” the spokesperson said.

Katz had said that Trump had only “frozen” – not cancelled – his support for removing Palestinians from the territory, a proposal that rights advocates say would amount to ethnic cleansing.

EU warns Gaza winterization ‘far behind’ as rains near, 94% lack shelter items

The European Union’s humanitarian aid arm has warned that winterization efforts in Gaza are “far behind” schedule as seasonal rains approach, saying 94 percent of households in the territory lack basic shelter and non-food items, calling the situation “a race against time.”

“Conditions are critical & rains could flood overcrowded sites with waste & sewage,” the EU’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid department wrote on X, calling for shelter, clean water, waste management and full humanitarian access.

The warning follows a report published earlier in August by the Norwegian Refugee Council and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which found that about 1.98 million Palestinians in Gaza lack adequate shelter, with nearly two-thirds of households living in tents or makeshift structures never designed for long-term use.

OCHA said 2.1 million people need shelter, essential household items or protection from strikes and gunfire, and estimated $562 million in funding is needed to close the gap. It said materials to repair and rebuild homes still cannot enter Gaza at the scale required, nearly a year after a “ceasefire” took effect.

Previous winters in Gaza have seen flooding destroy tens of thousands of tents and contribute to deaths from cold exposure.

Eight Palestinians were killed and 31 wounded in the past 24 hours, including one death from previous wounds, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza.

Medical teams and civil defence crews remain unable to reach additional victims still trapped under rubble or lying on roadsides, the ministry said.

Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, total casualties stand at 1,334 killed and 4,429 wounded, with 815 bodies recovered from debris, according to ministry figures.

Israeli forces storm occupied West Bank village in overnight raid

The Palestinian news agency Wafa is reporting that Israeli forces have stormed the village of Kafr Malek in the occupied West Bank, northeast of Ramallah, at dawn on Friday.

Local sources told Wafa that Israeli soldiers raided and searched dozens of homes, ransacked their contents, arrested a young man and seized his phone.

The sources added that Israeli forces beat a civilian as the incursion and home raids continued, with no arrests reported.

Separately, Israeli forces have arrested a young Palestinian from the town of Deir al-Ghusun, north of Tulkarem, at dawn today, according to Wafa.

US ambassador calls colonist pogrom ‘repulsive’ but by a ‘tiny minority’

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has called the Israeli colonist arson at a mosque in the occupied West Bank “repulsive” and “reckless”, likening it to “terrorism” in an interview with Israeli national broadcaster Kan.

Israeli colonists sprayed the mosque with a message directly addressed to Huckabee. The message read “regards to Huckabee from the terrorists.”

He said the attacks are the “dictionary definition of terrorism”, and that it is unfortunate that a “very tiny” number of people would damage the reputation of Israel.

Huckabee also stressed that Israel doesn’t “need any more enemies” and that he is “proud” of his country’s relationship with it.

This comes as US citizen Loui Ridi’s home remains besieged by Israeli colonists in the West Bank. Huckabee publicly condemned the attack. Palestinian Americans and rights advocates have criticised Huckabee for the lack of action on colonist pogroms.

Israeli army says it arrested 10 ‘wanted individuals’ during 48-hour operation in Nablus

Israel’s army says it has completed an operation in Nablus where it destroyed more than 30 weapon-production machines and arrested 10 “wanted individuals”, according to a statement on X.

During the operation, which is said to have lasted 48 hours, the army said it also confiscated concealed firearms, handguns and ammunition.

UN says Israeli operation that displaced entire populations of three refugee camps violated international law

A UN report says last year’s Israeli operation that displaced the entire population of three refugee camps in the Occupied West Bank – and who are still being prevented from returning – was in violation of international law.

The report published on Friday by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said Israeli forces went door-to-door as part of the ongoing “Iron Wall” operation to force residents to leave.

Civilians were killed, hundreds of homes destroyed, roads and other infrastructure were damaged and water and electricity cut during the raids on Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarm refugee camps in January and February 2025, the report said.

By October, 52 percent of the buildings in Jenin refugee camp, 48 percent in Nur Shams camp and 36 percent in Tulkarm camp had been destroyed or damaged as a result of the Israeli operation and entire populations in the camps were forcibly displaced.

“The manner in which Operation Iron Wall was carried out indicates that its objective was to displace as many Palestinians as possible and make way for more illegal Israeli colonies, in further violation of international law,” said the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk.

During the period covered by the report, Israeli forces killed 102 Palestinians, including 21 children, representing 46 percent of all killings by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank during that period.

Jerusalem Governorate says killing of Palestinian man by Israeli forces was an ‘extrajudicial execution’

The Jerusalem Governorate has condemned the killing of a Palestinian man by Israeli forces in occupied East Jerusalem on Friday.

Authorities said Israeli forces shot 33-year-old Ibrahim al-Hindi twice near the Damascus Gate area, killing him instantly.

The governorate says Hindi’s death is part of a policy of extrajudicial killings and summary executions practised by Israeli forces against Palestinians.

It said “this crime constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”

Israeli police said border guards killed Hindi because he attempted to carry out a stabbing attack against them.

The death means Israeli forces and colonist groups have killed 17 Palestinians in the Jerusalem governorate this year.

Israeli forces arrest several Palestinians in Qabatiya, in southern Jenin

Israeli forces have detained six Palestinian men in the town of Qabatiya in southern Jenin, the Palestinian Wafa news agency is reporting.

It’s unclear why the men have been arrested.

Their arrests occurred amid intense Israeli raids on several homes in the town on Friday, during which property was also damaged.

Israeli forces detain Palestinian after colonist attack south of Hebron

Israeli forces detained a Palestinian man from Khirbet Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, after raiding the village following a colonist attack, local Palestinians told Al Jazeera.

The Palestinian was injured after being attacked by colonists in the village before being detained.

It happened as Israeli forces stormed a children’s playground in the Khirbet Umm al-Khair community.

Israeli forces seize 7.5 dunams of land in Qabatiya, southern Jenin

Israeli forces have seized 7.5 dunams (approximately 1.85 acres) of land in the town of Qabatiya in southern Jenin under an “immediate and urgent” military order, the Palestinian news agency Wafa has reported.

Analysis of the maps attached to the military order indicates the possibility of establishing a military route that extends from an existing road to an area intended to be a site of a new military tower.

The route is located directly north of the new illegal Noa outpost.

The military order imposed a period of validity of 60 days from the date of its signing, granting the officer in charge absolute possession of the lands, in a procedure that empties the legal process of its content, Wafa said.

US envoy: Jewish extremist attacks are seriously damaging Israel’s standing in US

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has said that hate crimes committed by Jewish hardliners in the West Bank are causing serious damage to Israel’s image in the United States, warning that Israel “needs all the friends it can get” and “doesn’t need more enemies”, according to Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster.

Huckabee said he was not personally rattled by graffiti slogans criticising him after Israelis torched a mosque in the occupied West Bank village of Bazariya, but called the underlying trend “serious”, saying the damage to Israel’s reputation, including among Republicans, “runs deep”. He said he worries the incidents could dominate what young Americans hear about Israel.

The remarks follow Huckabee’s description last month of Jewish rioters who besieged Palestinian residents in the village of Qusra as “Israeli terrorists”, a comment that prompted the Bazariya mosque arsonists to spray graffiti reading: “Huckabee, regards from the terrorists.”

On Iran, Huckabee said Tehran is in a militarily and economically weakened position due to President Trump’s policies, and rejected claims Trump is delaying the nuclear issue to focus solely on the Strait of Hormuz, calling Iran’s threat to the US longstanding and impossible to ignore.

• Colonists stormed the Khirbet al-Hamra community in the northern Jordan Valley and assaulted one resident.
• Israeli colonists, accompanied by Israeli soldiers, also attacked Khalet a-Nahlah in southern Bethlehem. Israeli forces fired tear gas and concussion grenades at a crowd of Palestinians who gathered to resist the attacks.

Germany Foreign Ministry spokesperson condemns Israeli minister over AI video mocking Palestinian prisoners

Germany has condemned an AI-generated video shared by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir that mocked Palestinian prisoners, calling the depiction “appalling” and “unacceptable,” German newspaper Berlin Morgen reported.

German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Giese criticized the video posted by Ben-Gvir, which drew sharp backlash before reportedly being removed from social media platforms.

“Of course, this is completely unacceptable. It’s appalling,” Giese said during a federal press briefing in Berlin, adding that the German government firmly rejects Ben-Gvir’s political approach and messaging rhetoric.

The controversial video depicted overweight Palestinian prisoners traveling on a conveyor belt into a facility and emerging visibly emaciated and crying.
