Palestine Red Crescent says 74 people evacuated through Rafah

The Palestine Red Crescent Society says it took part in a medical evacuation through Gaza’s Rafah crossing, carrying 74 people, including 38 patients and 36 companions, Wafa news agency reports.

The evacuation was carried out in coordination with the World Health Organization, Wafa added, as part of ongoing efforts to allow patients from Gaza to access treatment outside the war-battered enclave.

Israel’s bombardment during its genocidal war on the enclave has ravaged its health sector – already severely strained before the war – pushing it to the brink of collapse.

One wounded in Gaza in Israeli attack

One Palestinian has been injured by Israeli gunfire in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, an emergency services source has told Al Jazeera.

Since the “ceasefire” that took effect in October, Israel has killed at least 1,262 Palestinians and injured 4,168, according to the latest figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

ICRC facilitates transfer of Palestinian detainees into Gaza

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has facilitated the transfer of 35 released Palestinian detainees from the Karem Abu Salem crossing (known to Israelis as Kerem Shalom) to Nasser Hospital, according to the Wafa news agency.

Wafa cited the ICRC as saying that since 2023, it has facilitated the release of 2,700 Palestinian detainees into Gaza, but that since October of that year, it has not been able to access Palestinians in Israeli detention centers.

Israeli detention centers are located in the Negev Desert, the occupied West Bank, and northern as well as central Israel.

Local and international human rights groups, United Nations investigators, and testimonies gathered from released prisoners report widespread systemic abuses, including severe overcrowding, deliberate food and medical deprivation, as well as physical and sexual violence.

Remains of Palestinian teen shot by Israeli forces in southern Gaza recovered

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has recovered the body of a teenager who was shot by the Israeli military on Saturday in southern Gaza, according to the Wafa news agency.

Suhail Masoud Shalouf, 14, was shot by Israeli forces on al-Tina Street, located on the outskirts of Khan Younis.

Israel’s Gaza war expenditure hits $136bn, Haaretz reports

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has become the longest and most expensive war in Israel’s history, with costs reaching about 420 billion shekels ($142bn) and national debt rising by roughly 400 billion shekels ($135bn), Haaretz newspaper reports.

The report said Israel entered its ground offensive in Gaza in late October 2023, expecting at least three months of fighting, despite ammunition stockpiles having been prepared for shorter wars.

A former Israeli military officer told Haaretz that stocks of some types of ammunition were insufficient even for a short war, while actual consumption in some categories reached twice the levels originally planned.

Hamas delegation heads to Cairo for talks on Gaza ceasefire

Hamas political bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya is due to arrive in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for talks on the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, according to the Anadolu news agency.

A Hamas source told Anadolu the “high-level leadership delegation” headed by al-Hayya will meet Egyptian General Intelligence Service chief Hassan Rashad to discuss issues tied to the Palestinian cause, chiefly efforts to solidify the ceasefire agreement.

The delegation also includes Hamas Shura Council chief Mohammed Darwish, head of the movement abroad Khaled Meshaal, West Bank chief Zaher Jabarin, and Basem Naim, head of the Arab and Islamic Relations Office.

The move comes after Netanyahu rejected a deal announced by Trump that called for Israeli forces to withdraw from Gaza as Hamas disarms and an International Stabilization Force takes over security in the Palestinian enclave.

A Board of Peace official told Al Jazeera last week that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will be travelling to Jerusalem next week for talks with Netanyahu. Kushner will be accompanied by Tony Blair, the former British prime minister who sits on the Board of Peace, as well as Nikolay Mladenov, a former UN envoy who is now serving as the board’s high representative for Gaza.

The officials said the trio will also travel to Cairo to meet with Egyptian leaders following the talks in Jerusalem.

Hamas, Egypt spy chief hold talks in Cairo on Gaza plan

A Hamas delegation has met Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad to discuss ways to advance the implementation of the US-backed 15-point post-war plan for Gaza.

Egypt’s state news service the Middle East News Agency said the delegation led by Hamas chief Khalil al-Hayya “reaffirmed commitment to completing US President Donald Trump’s plan”.

The delegation arrived in Cairo on Saturday evening, ahead of a visit by Trump’s envoy Jared Kushner to the region.

A Hamas official had told AFP news agency the talks in the Mediterranean city of El-Alamein, Egypt would cover “the latest developments in the negotiations and the efforts being made to compel Israel to abide by the agreement, which includes the 15-point roadmap, and to begin its implementation”.

“The delegation will brief Egyptian officials on Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement, and al-Hayya will emphasise the movement’s commitment and readiness to implement the agreement as soon as Israel announces its commitment to it.”

Another Hamas source told AFP that a meeting was being arranged between the Hamas negotiating delegation, the Board of Peace’s high representative for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, and US officials during Kushner’s visit to Egypt this week, to discuss obstacles related to the agreement.

The source added that contacts were under way with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators “to compel Israel to abide by the agreement”.

Egypt’s Sisi welcomes Kushner for peace plan talks

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has held talks on Gaza and other regional crises with Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law in the Egyptian city of El Alamein.

Kushner is also set to meet a Hamas delegation in Cairo on Sunday to discuss Trump’s peace plan, according to earlier reporting by Al Jazeera.

His trip to Egypt comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly rejected Trump’s 15-point peace plan.

Board of Peace high representative for Gaza, Nikolay Mladenov, is expected to accompany Kushner at the meeting in Cairo.

Talks will focus on the deployment of an international stabilisation force to Gaza, Israeli withdrawal and aid.

FMs of several countries condemn Israeli rejection of Trump’s Gaza roadmap

The foreign ministers of the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt have issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s rejection of a 15-point document put forward by US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace.

“These positions amount to a direct repudiation of the Comprehensive Plan, jeopardise its implementation, and fundamentally undermine the collective efforts undertaken to achieve a just and lasting peace,” their statement said.

“Such rejection confirms that Israel now bears responsibility for obstructing the efforts to bring peace in Gaza and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”

The statement said the roadmap had been “accepted” by the Palestinian factions, is the conclusion of “extensive efforts” by mediators, and constitutes a “vital milestone for the decommissioning of weapons concurrently with the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of the International Stabilization Force, the transfer of the administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and the reconstruction of Gaza”.

Hamas says it called on Board of Peace to ‘compel’ Israel to accept Gaza plan

Hamas has now issued a statement saying that during a meeting with “delegations from the mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza”, it emphasized its “acceptance of the roadmap for the second phase of President Trump’s plan”.

“Hamas and the resistance fully adhered to the first phase of the ceasefire agreement”, it said, adding that Israel “failed to implement this phase, escalating its military operations on the ground and deepening the humanitarian catastrophe and has explicitly rejected the roadmap”.

Hamas said, “it called upon the mediating parties and the Board of Peace to fulfil their responsibilities and compel the occupation to implement all its obligations in the first phase, end all violations, halt the killings and incursions, agree to the roadmap for the second phase of President Trump’s plan and begin developing a timetable for its implementation”.

X users say US military published map showing Gaza, West Bank as part of Israel

X users say the US Central Command published a map of the Middle East that showed Palestine’s Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank as part of Israel.

The map accompanied a statement by CENTCOM on Commander Brad Cooper’s 10-day trip to the Middle East, and screenshots posted online showed Israel as including Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Social media users were quick to point it out, with one saying, “How dare you show the West Bank and Gaza as a part of Israel. This was done intentionally.”

Russia’s Sputnik outlet also weighed in, saying CENTCOM “appears to have failed geography again, posting a map of the Middle East in which the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are shown as Israeli territory”.

CENTCOM appears to have amended the map since. The statement, the occupied West Bank has now been showing as separate from Israel, though Gaza was not marked as separate.

Palestine is currently recognized as a sovereign state by 157 of the UN’s 193 member states.

Ben-Gvir says Palestinian prisoners should be hanged ‘one by one’

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir says he will do everything in his power to ensure Palestinian prisoners are executed, adding that he hopes they will be hanged “one by one”.

Ben-Gvir said hanging would be the method of execution under the death penalty legislation he has been promoting.

“I will do the impossible when the time comes,” he said. “I promise you that I will do everything in my power and turn the world upside down to make this happen.”

Ben-Gvir also said he was “happy” that Palestinian prisoners were now suffering under harsher conditions in Israeli prisons.

Israel’s parliament passed legislation on March 30, 2026, imposing the death penalty by hanging on Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis if a military court determines the act was “terrorism” or was motivated by the “denial of the existence of the State of Israel”.

 

Israeli forces, colonists continue attacks in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have arrested several Palestinians as colonists wounded several people amid continuing violence in the occupied West Bank, according to the Wafa news agency.

• Israeli forces raided al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, and fired tear gas after colonists attacked the Shaab al-Loz neighborhood of the village.
• Israeli forces arrested five Palestinians across the northern West Bank, including a man, his wife, and daughter in Jenin, and raided homes in Bir al-Basha, Tulkarem, and villages near Ramallah and Bethlehem.
• Israeli colonists wounded five people, including a child, in an attack on Umm al-Khair village, south of Hebron, released livestock onto a family’s property, and vandalized crops.
• Israeli colonists also attacked vehicles, homes and farmland in Masafer Yatta, the Tubas Valley, and near Nablus, and continued a days-long siege of three homes in Qusra.

UN managed to bring supplies to families under Israeli colonist siege

The UN confirm that an aid convoy was able to bring supplies to one of homes that has been sheltering families enduring an illegal week-long siege by Israeli colonists in [occupied West Bank’s] Qusra.

The Israeli soldiers have set up a tent in front of their home. According to the families trapped inside, five soldiers change positions every hour or so and they apparently sit there to keep guard.

But what is happening is that any attempt to bring aid to these families has to go through the Israeli soldiers. So they are, in effect, as they told me, under siege by the colonists and the soldiers themselves.

The UN mission was able to bring them flashlights, fresh water, food for the children and a dignity kit. But a water tanker that attempted to enter the road and get water for the family to fill up their water tanks was denied access and turned back.

The colonists cut off the road if they see any Palestinian movement there and so the situation continues to remain the same, frozen in time with the families trapped there. There haven’t been any attacks or assaults by the Israeli colonists per se, but the siege continues.

Israeli army, colonists block restoration of services at Qusra homes

The mayor of Qusra in the occupied West Bank has said that local authorities are unable to restore electricity and water to the three homes besieged in the town by Israeli colonists.

He said the technical teams were unable to reach the residences.

Israeli forces have prevented Israeli and foreign activists from reaching Palestinian families whose homes have been surrounded by colonists for a week.

Happened in the occupied West Bank

The Israeli army, often in conjunction with colonists, continues to raid and arrest Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

• At least 10 Palestinians were injured during attacks carried out by Israeli forces and colonists in various areas of Hebron Governorate.
• At least four Palestinians were arrested during raids by the Israeli army on the villages of al-Maniya and Kisan, east of Bethlehem.
• The Israeli army arrested two young Palestinian men during a raid on the towns of Silwad and Beitin, east of Ramallah.
• The army issued an eviction order to residents of several homes in the district of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem on the outskirts of Jerusalem’s Old City.
• The army also forced a Palestinian living in Silwan to demolish his own home.
• Israeli colonists attacked farm equipment at a quarry in the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, and grazed their sheep on nearby farmland.
• Local sources said Israeli forces have brought several mobile homes to the evacuated Kadim colony, west of Jenin, in preparation for re-establishing the colony.

Israeli colonists storm East Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque

More than 150 Israeli colonists have stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of Israeli police in occupied East Jerusalem and performed Jewish prayers there.

Prayers are not allowed for non-Muslims at the site as part of the status quo arrangement, in place since 1967, in the city that is holy to the three Abrahamic religions. Jewish people, however, are permitted to visit the compound.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound sits on a plateau in occupied East Jerusalem, which Israel captured in the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed in a move not recognized by the international community.

For Muslims, the compound is Islam’s third holiest site. It is home to the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque and is where Prophet Muhammad is believed to have ascended into heaven.

It is also the holiest site in Judaism, known as the Temple Mount, where the ancient Temple of Jerusalem once stood.

Colonists ‘very clearly’ carrying out ‘forcible transfer’ of Palestinians in Qusra

It has now been one week since Israeli colonists began their siege of Qusra, a Palestinian village south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

The colonies have been “deemed illegal on numerous counts, most recently by the International Court of Justice… as an occupying power, Israel, under the Geneva Convention”, Tony Cadman, an international human rights lawyer, says.

“So for Israel to say that it has no power, that it is just a group of extremists, is insufficient under international rule,” he said.

Referring to the besieged village, he said, “the circumstances here are very clear … it’s not a voluntary departure from those areas; they [Palestinians] are being forced out by the cutting off of basic necessities, water, electricity, violence, and violence that has been declared by pretty much everyone, including the US actually, as acts of terrorism”.

Who are Israeli colonists?

In light of the siege by Israeli colonists on the village of Qusra:

• Colonists are Israeli citizens who live illegally on Palestinian land.
• Israel started building illegal colonies after capturing the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in the June 1967 Six-Day War.
• Now, more than 700,000 colonists – 10 percent of Israel’s population – live in 150 illegal colonies and 128 outposts spread across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Colonies in Gaza were dismantled by Israel in 2005.
• The government has openly funded and built colonies, and Israeli authorities give their colonists in the occupied West Bank about $5.6m a year to monitor, report and restrict Palestinian construction in Area C, which is administered solely by Israel and comprises more than 60 percent of the West Bank.
• The United Nations has condemned the colonies through multiple resolutions and votes.
• The United States has provided diplomatic cover to Israel for decades, with Washington consistently using its veto power at the UN to protect Israel from diplomatic censure.

This has not been just of politics but ideology as well. The US has been the first Zionist country since 1898.

Happened in the occupied West Bank

• The colonist siege on the village of Qusra is still ongoing and is now entering week two. Three families are trapped, with colonists earlier cutting off electricity and water to the homes.
• Israeli forces raided the village of al-Mughayyir, northwest of Ramallah, and fired tear gas towards homes. They also set up a military checkpoint at the village’s entrance.
• Israeli forces also raided the town of Beit Liqya, northwest of Ramallah, and handed some homeowners demolition notices.
• Colonists have set up tents in the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, as they attempt to set up a new illegal colony outpost.
• Hundreds of Palestinians are stranded at the Jaba military checkpoint in occupied East Jerusalem following delays from stricter checks vehicle by the Israeli military.

Israeli military playing a ‘game’ in Qusra siege

The Israeli colonists’ siege [on three Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank village of Qusra] is ongoing with complete support from the Israeli army. I just received updates that an Israeli military bulldozer is currently blocking roads leading to Ras al-Ain area, where several Palestinian villages are surrounded…

This has been the routine for eight days now. The Israeli colonists are attacking three Palestinian homes and the Israeli military is blocking Palestinians from receiving food supply and aid.

This morning, a UNICEF truck was able to provide some supplies to the three homes, but these Palestinians are still unable to leave their houses and of course, are still under threats to their lives and their lands. The Israeli colonists attack them by throwing rocks towards the windows or throwing rocks anytime they try to leave their houses.

Israel is operating with complete impunity. In the past three years, Israeli colonists and military have openly expanded colonies. All of these colonies are illegal under international law and, of course, Israeli colonists are not allowed to be here. What we call the outposts – residential structures that colonists build to expand colonies, those are still being built and they are granted access to water and electricity networks, paved roads and they provide them with weapons. And nothing happens.

Palestinians believe what is happening in Qusra is a game because they see the Israeli soldiers drinking tea with colonists, playing soccer [football] with them but not arresting or preventing them. The only moment the Israeli soldiers appear to be doing something is when activists are around to help the Palestinians.

Israel hands West Bank rule to civilian police

Palestinian politicians and analysts have warned against what they describe as an Israeli plan to annex the occupied West Bank by implementing a series of decisions and actions under different pretexts.

On Friday, Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, ordered the military to prepare a plan for transferring civilian law enforcement in the occupied West Bank to the Israeli police.

According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the decision follows criticism over the army’s handling of Israeli colonists who besieged Palestinian homes in the village of Qusra.

Katz justified the shift saying, “The army’s role is to combat Palestinian terrorism … and not chase hilltop youth”.

The defence ministry indicated that the police would establish a dedicated force to handle civilian matters.

Under international law, transferring civilian enforcement powers over colonists in the occupied West Bank from the military to domestic police forces is viewed by legal experts, the United Nations, and Palestinian officials as a step toward de facto or de jure annexation.

The Israeli move violates core principles of the law of belligerent occupation under the Hague Regulations and the Fourth Geneva Convention, which dictate that an occupying power must administer occupied territory through temporary military authority rather than extending its domestic civilian governance or sovereignty over the land.

Today’s colonist attacks in occupied West Bank

• The second week has begun of the Israeli colonists’ siege of Qusra in the occupied West Bank. Three Palestinian families in the village south of Nablus remain trapped in their homes.
• Israeli colonists set up tents near the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, in preparation for establishing a new illegal colony outpost, according to the Wafa news agency.
• Wafa also reported that two Palestinians were shot and eight injured during a colonist attack under the protection of Israeli forces in the al-Ras area of Hebron city.

Israel using colonists ‘to advance ethnic cleansing’ in occupied West Bank: UN’s Albanese

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese about the surge in Israeli colonist violence and the ongoing siege of three Palestinian homes in the village of Qusra in the occupied West Bank.

Albanese said it is important to see the development as part of Israel’s wider, decades-long rule of “impunity”, adding that the situation has only now reached a “climax”.

Israel, she said, has no right to carry out military incursions on Palestinian territory and ought to protect civilians from military action. However, Israeli officials appear to be collaborating with the colonists, she said.

“Israel has outsourced coercion to the colonists and is using them to advance ethnic cleansing,” Albanese said. “This is a crime … This is utter terrorism; these colonists should be investigated and prosecuted.”

While Israel’s endgame might be “ethnic cleansing”, it is using “war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of genocide as the means to continue the Nakba“, she added.

‘Utterly shameful’ global failure to hold Israel accountable: UN’s Albanese

The UN Special Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, has faulted the international community for failing to hold Israel accountable for its genocidal war on Gaza and its illegal expansion in the occupied West Bank.

“It’s utterly shameful to see that the international community is letting this happen,” she said.

The apartheid system in the West Bank and the genocide in Gaza are a “state enterprise”, she said, and as such, warrant that countries sanction Israel economically.

Instead, Albanese noted, influential countries, including her own country Italy and others within the European Union, are continuing to trade with Israel.

Meanwhile, the US is “bullying” anyone who dares to ask for accountability into “silence and compliance”.

“This is extremely serious,” she added. “The rule of law system that we believed to have built is crumbling, is really falling apart on our heads. It’s about Palestine, but it’s much broader and deeper than Palestine.”

Israeli settlers attack Palestinian doctor near Bethleham

A Palestinian doctor from Jerusalem was injured after colonist attacked him in the town of Jannatah, east of Bethlehem, according to the Jerusalem governorate.

Majed Alyan Dwayat, a resident of Sur Baher village, south of Jerusalem, suffered a broken hand when about 10 colonists attacked him with stones and sticks, the Wafa news agency reported.

His car’s windows were also smashed during the attack.

Israeli forces raid occupied West Bank village
