The Lebanese armed group says it has fired rockets at Israeli forces in the town of Metula in northern Israel.

The Israeli military has issued new forced displacement orders for residents of 16 villages and towns in southern Lebanon.

These include Majdal Selem, Hula and Chaqra.

Israeli attack on Lebanon kills 6, wounds 8: Report

Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen television is reporting that an Israeli air attack on Aramoun and Saadiyat in the Mount Lebanon area has killed at least six people.

The news outlet cited the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

It said eight others were wounded in the attack.

Earlier, Lebanese authorities said the death toll from Israel’s “aggression” has risen to 50, while 335 people have been wounded.

Several killed in Israeli strike on Lebanon’s Baalbek: Report

Lebanon’s NNA state news agency has reported that several people were killed in an Israeli air strike on a residential building in the city of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon.

The NNA reported that rescue workers are trying to help families trapped beneath the rubble.

Four killed, 6 wounded in Israeli attack on Lebanon’s Baalbek

Lebanon’s National News Agency is now reporting that at least four people were killed, and six have been wounded. It said the attack happened at dawn and that the targeted building was in the Al Matraba neighborhood of the city.

A search and rescue effort is under way to pull survivors from the rubble, it added.

Rights group slams Israeli threat against Iranian officials in Lebanon

Human Rights Watch says Israeli threats against Iranian government officials in Lebanon represent “an intent to commit a war crime”, noting that people who are not directly involved in hostilities cannot be targeted under international law.

This comes after the Israeli military said it “will not tolerate any presence of representatives of the Iranian [..] regime in Lebanon” and gave them 24 hours to leave the country or face attacks.

“The laws of war strictly prohibit attacks targeting civilians, which include officials from other countries who are not directly participating in hostilities,” HRW said in a social media post.

“The suggestion that Israeli forces will target Iranian government officials who do not leave Lebanon is both deeply disturbing and an admission of an intent to commit a war crime,” it added.

Israeli forces bomb a hotel in Lebanon’s Hazmieh

Lebanon’s National News Agency is reporting an Israeli attack on a hotel in Hazmieh near Beirut. It said ambulances have been dispatched to the site.

The building showed blown-out windows and walls, and debris strewn everywhere.

Israeli strike on Lebanese hotel came without warning

In recent hours, Israeli forces have bombed an area on the border of Hazmieh and Baabda, which are part of greater Beirut, and this attack happened without any warning, indicating that this could have been an attempted assassination strike.

The attack targeted the Comfort Hotel, and we are still waiting for confirmation of casualties. The Israeli military is yet to say exactly who or what it was attempting to target.

There have been attacks throughout the country overnight.

There was an attack on a residential building in Aramoun and another one in a village further south called Sadiyath. The Lebanese Ministry of Health has confirmed that six people were killed and eight were injured.

There was another strike in the eastern city of Baalbek, which is close to the Syrian border. This one targeted a residential building, and at least four people have been killed in that strike so far, and 11 wounded. And that is just the death toll so far.

Israel issues new forced displacement orders for southern Lebanon

The Israeli military has issued forced evacuation orders for residents of 13 additional villages and towns in southern Lebanon.

They include Qana, Kfar Kila and Majdal Zoun.

This comes hours after the Israeli military issued a similar notice for residents of 16 villages and towns, and a day after it threatened people in more than 50 settlements to leave.

Israel’s forced displacement orders spark buffer zone fears

There’s a great deal of concern in Lebanon about the Israeli army’s forced evacuation orders for villages and towns in the south of the country.

The ones issued yesterday for more than 50 villages and towns neatly plotted a line across southern Lebanon that would allow Israel to establish a larger buffer zone there. And that would be in addition to the five positions Israel has already occupied, and continues to occupy, since the war between Hezbollah and Israel here in 2024.

Under the ceasefire agreed in November of that year, Israel was supposed to withdraw from those positions. And Hezbollah was supposed to be unarmed south of the Litani River. Neither side has done that.

And Israel has now stepped up its strikes across Lebanon in recent days after Hezbollah launched rockets, which it said were in retaliation for the killing of the supreme leader in Iran and for Israeli violations of the agreement. Any time we talk about this ceasefire, it’s important to remember that it has been violated on an almost daily basis by Israel. Monitoring groups have documented about 11,000 instances over the last year and a half where there have been continued strikes, including attacks on cars and on buildings, across the country.

Israeli attack in Beirut suburb appears to be an assassination

The latest conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is escalating.

There is no front line and no mediation or diplomatic effort to end it.

We are in Hazmieh, a Beirut suburb. It is not considered a Hezbollah stronghold. It is not where Hezbollah supporters live. Behind me is the Comfort Hotel, which was targeted by an Israeli strike earlier today. This appears to be a targeted strike, an assassination.

We cannot independently confirm that but we’ve seen similar attacks in the past when there’s no prior warning and when there is a specific target hit, with a specific floor of the building affected. We’ve been speaking to the Lebanese army and they’ve been saying that there are four people wounded, with one in a critical condition.

We saw a similar attack earlier today in another Beirut suburb outside of Hezbollah’s area of influence. There was a strike in Baalbek. The death toll is rising. Hezbollah, too, is escalating its attacks, claiming more than 10 attacks reaching deep inside Israel in the last 24 hours.

How can it describe as "conflict" while Netanyahu knew that Hezbollah would respond to the assassination of the Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei, which was prepared by the Israeli Mossad and the CIA after Netanyahu on June 16, 2025, called on the US for help in the assassination.

The "conflict" is not a conflict but a spillover of Netanyahu's started war on Iran into Lebanon.

Israeli military issues orders to flee Beirut buildings targeted for attacks

The Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesperson has issued new forced displacement orders for residents of the Haret Hreik neighborhood in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The spokesperson released a map of the Lebanese capital with buildings marked in red and warned that people should flee the site, claiming it was “affiliated with Hezbollah”.

“For your safety and the safety of your family members, you are required to evacuate these buildings immediately and stay away from them for a distance of at least 300 meters as shown on the map,” the spokesperson said.

Israel announces more attacks on Beirut

The Israeli military says it is carrying out more attacks on what it called Hezbollah “infrastructure in Beirut”.

This came as the AFP news agency reported an air attack on a Hezbollah location in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital.

Beirut bracing for attack on Laylaki neighborhood

The Israeli army says it has started carrying out attacks against Hezbollah’s infrastructure in Beirut.

This means we are going to see a wave of air raids.

Over the past hour or so, there have been two strikes, including one in the Haret Hreik neighbourhood. We are expecting a third strike to hit the neighborhood of Laylaki any time now.

Israel redeploys reserve division to Lebanon border

Israel’s military says it has sent a reserve division back to the western part of the Lebanon border after it was withdrawn last May.

Commenting on Israel’s military operations in Lebanon, Northern Command Commander Rafi Milo threatened further attacks from Beirut to Tyre to Sidon.

Death toll from Israeli attacks in Lebanon rises to 12

Israeli attacks in Lebanon today have killed at least 12 people, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

They include six people killed in a strike that hit a residential building in Baalbek, and six in attacks in the Aramoun and Saadiyat areas south of Beirut.

Twenty-three others have been injured in the string of attacks and two others are missing.

Israeli army advances further into Lebanese territory

The Israeli army has advanced further into Lebanese territory from positions along the border, Lebanese state media is reporting.

The Israeli military had entered the town of Khiam in south Lebanon, about 6km (3.7 miles) from the border, state media reported, saying the town was witnessing continuous shelling.

Chaos and panic in Lebanon

The Israeli army is expanding the scope of its attacks in Lebanon.

Earlier today, Israeli air strikes level at least five residential buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs. While those strikes came with prior warning, Israel also carried out strikes without warning, including on a hotel in the Beirut suburb of Hazmieh.

In addition, the Israeli defense minister yesterday authorized the army to take control of additional positions inside Lebanon. I can confirm that the Israeli army has advanced at least a kilometer (half a mile) from seven positions.

So, there’s pressure coming from the ground and from the sky. There are Israeli warplanes, the constant buzzing of Israeli drones and people receiving phone calls telling them to evacuate their buildings.

There is chaos and a lot of panic in Lebanon about where this conflict is heading.

More than 65,000 displaced in Lebanon by Israeli attacks: Minister

Haneen Sayed, the Lebanese social affairs minister, has told Al Jazeera that 65,000 people have registered in shelters after being displaced by the recent Israeli strikes.

Sayed, whose ministry is responsible for providing shelter and supplies to the displaced, said perhaps 10,000 to 20,000 others had also been displaced but were “on the road” or sheltering with friends and family, and were still in the process of registering for support.

“It is not a good situation. People are worried,” she said, adding that memories were still fresh from the war with Israel in 2024 of “waking up daily to sounds of either drones or explosions”.

She said the government had declared the military activities of Hezbollah illegal, and that its long-term plan was “establishing the authority of the state on all of its territories”.

Israeli military tells Lebanese civilians to move north of Litani River

Israel’s military, which has been advancing in several positions in southern Lebanon, has now demanded that Lebanese civilians in the south leave their homes and head north of the Litani River.

“To ensure your safety, you must evacuate your homes at once and head north beyond the Litani River,” said the army’s spokesperson on X. “Be aware: any movement southward may put your life at risk.”

The military also said anyone “who is near Hezbollah members, its facilities, or its military equipment is putting their life at risk”.

Israel announces new wave of strikes on southern Lebanon

Israel’s army says it has started to carry out another wave of strikes on Lebanon’s south, which it has been attacking from the air throughout the day and pushing troops deeper into.

After the announcement, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported a new Israeli air raid on the southern town of Khiam.

Hezbollah claims to hit Israeli battle tank near border

Hezbollah claims it has carried out an attack on an Israeli tank in the southern Lebanese town of Houla near the border.

Israel’s Channel 12 is reporting that Israel came under simultaneous attack from Hezbollah and Iran. Israeli defences intercepted a munition fired from Iran, causing shrapnel to fall in central Israel, according to local media.

Israeli military reports launches from Lebanon

Several launches from Lebanon were detected heading towards northern Israel, the Israeli military said in a post on X.

In a statement, the army said alerts were issued at about 12:30 GMT (2:30pm local time) after “a number of launches” crossed from Lebanon, “most of them were intercepted”.

It added that further alerts were triggered around 13:00 GMT (3:00pm local time), when another launch from Lebanon was detected and intercepted.

Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli base near Tel Aviv with drones

Hezbollah says it launched a swarm of attack drones at an Israeli military base.

In a statement, the group said its fighters targeted the “Tel Hashomer base”, which it described as a General Staff headquarters southeast of Tel Aviv, at about 12:00 GMT (2pm local time).

Hezbollah said the attack was carried out “in response to the criminal Israeli aggression that targeted dozens of Lebanese cities and towns, including the southern suburbs of Beirut”.

Earlier, we reported the Israeli military said several launches from Lebanon were detected heading towards Israel, claiming “most of which” were intercepted.

Israeli army says 2 soldiers injured in southern Lebanon

Two Israeli soldiers have been wounded by antitank fire in southern Lebanon, the Israeli military says.

In a statement, the army said the soldiers were injured during fighting and evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

“Earlier today two soldiers were moderately injured as a result of an anti-tank fire toward troops operating in southern Lebanon,” it said.

The clashes come after Israel launched a ground invasion of southern Lebanon on Monday.

Israeli forces breach several southern Lebanese towns

Israeli troops in southern Lebanon have pushed into the outskirts of the town of Khiam, a Lebanese security source tells Al Jazeera.

It follows raids into the towns of Hula, Yaroun, Kfar Kila, Qouzah and Mazraat Sarda.

The incursion into Lebanon extends up to 2km (1.2 miles), according to the source who requested anonymity, adding that there is no indication of any direct clashes between Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah fighters.

Hezbollah says it launched drones at Haifa naval base

Hezbollah says it launched a squadron of attack drones at Israel’s Haifa naval base.

In a statement, the Lebanese group said it targeted the base at about 2pm local time (12:00 GMT), describing the attack as a response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon.

Earlier, the Israeli military said launches were detected crossing from Lebanon towards northern Israel, adding most were intercepted.

Iran threatens to target Israeli embassies worldwide if Lebanon mission attacked

Iran’s armed forces have threatened to target Israeli missions worldwide if Israel attacks Tehran’s mission in Lebanon, a military spokesperson says.

Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson of the Iranian armed forces, said live on television, “If Israel commits such a crime, it will force us to make all Israeli embassies around the world our legitimate target.”

Yesterday, Avichay Adraee, an Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli military, said it “warns representatives of the Iranian terror regime who are still in Lebanon to leave immediately before being targeted”, giving them 24 hours to flee.

Lebanon’s president requests US intervention to halt Israeli aggression

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun has asked the US ambassador to the country to urge Washington to intervene to stop Israeli attacks, according to a statement from the presidency.

Aoun made the request during a meeting earlier with US Ambassador Michael Issa where they discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the Middle East.

Israeli air strikes kill 72 in Lebanon: Ministry

Lebanon’s Health Ministry says the death toll from Israeli strikes on the country has risen to 72, with at least 437 people wounded.

Cross-border fighting between Israel and Lebanon resumed after the Iran-backed armed group launched rockets towards northern Israel following the US-Israel attack on Tehran.

The Israeli army responded by resuming air strikes on the country’s south and Beirut’s southern suburbs, issuing forced evacuation orders and taking new military positions in Lebanese territory.

Lebanese PM: ‘We will spare no effort to end this destructive war’

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam spoke briefly at a news conference and raised the issue of tens of thousands of civilians displaced after Israel began its ground invasion of southern Lebanon.

“I would like to promise … that we will spare no effort to bring an end to this destructive war, and to bring the displaced people to their homes, and to protect Lebanon and its people,” he said.

Directly addressing those forced to flee their homes, the prime minister said: “You are not alone. All of Lebanon is your home.

“Our people who had to leave their homes are not responsible for what has befallen them. They are victims – victims of policies not of their making.”

Hezbollah says it’s fighting Israeli forces near Khiam

Hezbollah says its fighters detonated an explosive device and clashed with Israeli troops near the southern Lebanese town of Khiam.

In a statement, the group said the attack took place at 6:30pm local time (16:30 GMT) after its fighters monitored what it described as an Israeli force attempting to advance towards the area.

Hezbollah said the blast was followed by direct fighting and claimed casualties among Israeli troops, adding gun battles are ongoing.

In a separate statement, Hezbollah said it also fired a rocket barrage towards Israeli forces gathered in the town of Kiryat Shmona, in northern Israel. The incident took place at 5pm local time (15:00 GMT).

The armed group said helicopters later intervened to evacuate wounded soldiers.

Israeli strikes on Lebanon kill 72 people since Monday : Lebanese Health Ministry

Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed 72 people and displaced more than 83,000 since the start of a new round of fighting between Israel and Lebanese group Hezbollah, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

In a statement, it said “the toll of the Israeli aggression since dawn on Monday … has risen to 72 martyrs and 437 wounded”, while the minister of social affairs announced the number of displaced in official shelters is 83,847.

Israel is carrying out air strikes on multiple areas of Lebanon after the pro-Iran group Hezbollah began launching rockets and drones towards it on Monday in retaliation for the US and Israeli attack that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

UNIFIL expresses ‘serious concern’ over Israeli army’s evacuation orders

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has expressed its reservations about the Israeli military’s evacuation orders of areas under its jurisdiction.

“UNIFIL notes with serious concern the latest [military] statement demanding evacuation of the civilian population from UNIFIL’s area of operations to north of the Litani river,” it said in a statement on social media.

UNIFIL’s area of operations is located in southern Lebanon, specifically the region between the Litani River in the north and the Blue Line (Israel-Lebanon border) in the south. The mission monitors the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon, and supports the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, an unnamed source from UNIFIL told the AFP news agency Israeli forces advanced into several south Lebanon villages, including Kfar Kila, Hula, Kfarchouba, Yaroun and Khiam.

Khiam, the deepest point listed, is six kilometers (2.4 miles) away from the border. On Tuesday, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered troops to take additional positions inside Lebanon as the military sought to establish “a buffer zone” against Hezbollah.

Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli air defense sites with drones

In a statement, the group said its fighters launched a swarm of drones at Iron Dome radar systems at the Kiryat Elazar site, which it described as a main air defense base in Haifa.

Hezbollah also said it targeted Palmachim Air Base south of Tel Aviv, 140km (87 miles) from the Lebanese border.

The group said the attacks were carried out on Tuesday in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanese cities and towns, including Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Macron urges Lebanon leaders for de-escalation

French ⁠President Emmanuel Macron says ⁠he spoke with ⁠Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, ‌and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and discussed the situation in Lebanon, urging them ⁠to de-escalate.

Macron said he urged Netanyahu to “refrain from a ground offensive” in Lebanon. “I called on the Israeli prime minister to preserve Lebanon’s territorial integrity and to refrain from a ground offensive.”

In ⁠a post on social media platform ⁠X, Macron said Hezbollah’s ⁠strategy of ⁠escalation constitutes a major error that puts ‌the entire Middle East in danger.

Hezbollah says its attacks on Israel are a ‘response to 15 months of violations’

Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem says the Lebanese group has been launching missiles at Israel in retaliation for “15 months of violations”.

Qassem says the group targeted Israeli positions as far as Tel Aviv with at least 15 attacks.

A ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah took effect in November 2024, aimed at ending more than a year of intense conflict that saw Israel kill about 4,000 people and wounded 17,000 others.

Under the ceasefire, the Israeli army was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon in January 2025, but instead only partially pulled out and continues to maintain a military presence at five outposts.

According to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Israel has violated that ceasefire more than 10,000 times.

Hezbollah says will confront Israeli-US ‘aggression’; will not surrender

Hezbollah will confront “Israeli-American aggression” and will not surrender, the head of the Iran-backed Lebanese group Naim Qassem says.

“We are facing aggression … our choice is to confront it until the ultimate sacrifice, and we will not surrender,” Qassem said in remarks broadcast on his party’s TV channel.

It was the Hezbollah leader’s first speech since the beginning of the US-Israeli attack on Iran.

“We will not hesitate to defend our rights, and we will not surrender to our enemy. We will confront the aggression, which for us is an existential defence that will continue until our goals are achieved.”

80,000 people seek refuge in Lebanon since renewed fighting

The UN on the humanitarian situation in Lebanon since fighting between Hezbollah and Israel resumed:

• At least 80,000 people have sought refuge in shelters in Lebanon.
• The UN believes this represents a fraction of all the people who have been forced to flee.
• Rapid response teams are assessing needs and distributing emergency supplies in affected areas and shelters.
• UN partners working in food security have reached more than 20,000 displaced people with hot meals and some 15,000 with ready-to-eat packages across Lebanon.

On June 16, 2025, Netanyahu called on the US for help in the assassination of the Iranian Supreme  Leader Khamenei knowing that Hezbollah would respond. In December of that year, Netanyahu vowed to attack Iran in 2026 again, which was on February 28th when Israeli fighter jets bombed the building where Khamenei was.

On March 1st, Hezbollah vowed to revenge the assassination, which it did the following day. Hezbollah was dragged in what is de facto the resumption of the preemptive 12-day war on Iran in June 2025.

It is not "since fighting between Hezbollah and Israel resumed" but since Netanyahu started to resume his preemptive 12-day war on Iran from June 2025.

Israel claims to destroy ‘numerous’ Hezbollah sites in Lebanon

The Israeli military says it completed an “additional” wave of strikes in southern Lebanon, claiming to hit Hezbollah rocket and missile launch sites located south of the Litani River.

The sites included an unmanned aerial vehicle and drone production facility, the military said on Telegram.

The military also said it struck two people it described as “terrorists” in the Beirut area. Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic reported that an Israeli drone targeted a car in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Israel threatens new strike on south Beirut, Hezbollah claims clashes in south Lebanon

Renewed evacuation orders in Beirut

A statement from Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem said patience was wearing thin and that they were obligated to respond to Israeli aggression, adding that Israel had started the battle and they had to respond.

He said this was not only due to the killing of the ayatollah, but also months of ceasefire violations dating back to November 2024.

There is gunfire in the southern suburbs, and we have just received a fresh evacuation order warning people to leave immediately.

It is not just about the scale of people on the move – about 300,000 by this point – with orders for forced evacuation to anywhere south of the Litani River, as well as areas of the eastern and southern suburbs.

It has become a logistical nightmare for many, exposing fractures and divisions within Lebanon because the strikes have expanded beyond traditionally Shia areas, which are typically Hezbollah strongholds.

This means many people are now afraid to take in those who have been displaced.

Israel bombs Beirut’s Haret Hreik

The army had earlier issued a threat, forcing residents of the neighborhood to displace, saying they would imminently strike a building there.

This is the third Israeli army strike on the Haret Hreik neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut in the past 24 hours.
