President Aoun says the Lebanese government is determined to end the state of hostility with Israel.

He added that:

  • The framework agreement cannot be implemented unilaterally; it must be fully implemented by both parties without selectivity.

Lebanon urges Greece to help implement ceasefire with Israel

Lebanon’s President Aoun has asked Greece for support to help implement the US-backed June ceasefire agreement with Israel and end Israeli attacks on his country.

“Lebanon and the Lebanese people are tired of wars, and from the start of the negotiations with Israel the aim was to put an end to the state of hostility,” Aoun told a press conference in Athens alongside Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“The framework agreement … cannot be implemented unilaterally. It needs to be implemented on both sides,” he insisted.

“Solving the problem by military force will not succeed,” he said, insisting on the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from his country.

Greece has historically maintained cordial relations with Arab states while simultaneously developing strong military ties with Israel.

Israel launches attacks across southern Lebanon

Israel has carried out heavy bombing campaigns across several towns in southern Lebanon this evening, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).

Israel carried out these campaigns in the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Kafr Rumman, in the Nabatieh district, reported NNA, adding that Israel is employing white phosphorus munitions in these attacks.

The usage of white phosphorous is illegal under international law.

Israel also “dropped flares” on the border town of Al-Dhahira.
