Iraq summons Iranian envoy over maps, comments posted by diplomatic missions
Iraq has requested clarification about posts published on official accounts of some Iranian diplomatic missions abroad that included “maps of the region, as well as the positions and comments accompanying them, which were inconsistent with the depth of relations between the two countries”, according to Iraq’s foreign ministry.
Iraq’s deputy minister for multilateral and legal affairs Shorsh Khalid Saeed met the Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadegh over the issue, the statement said.
“The two sides also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations through reciprocal visits, enhance coordination in international forums and organisations, and develop frameworks for cooperation in the political, economic, and security fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.”
The issues brought up included the use of “Persian Gulf” instead of “Arabian Gulf”, according to media reports.

Drone attack on Iraq’s northern Kurdish region
An attack by two drones has been carried out.
At least one drone was shot down near the village of Badalyan, in the Soran area of Erbil governorate in Iraq’s northern Kurdish region.
The downing sparked a fire, but no casualties have been reported so far, a security source told Iraq’s Shafaq News.

Two drones that flew over the skies of the Erbil governorate, in Iraq’s northern Kurdish region, targeted facilities belonging to Iranian Kurdish opposition parties.
An explosion was heard in the area and a fire broke out at the site.
The extent of the damage remains unclear, including whether there were casualties, he says.
No official body or authority linked to the regional government has commented, he said, and the drones remain unidentified, with no indication yet of where they were launched from.
