Gaza death toll rises

At least seven Palestinians have been killed and 10 wounded by Israeli attacks across Gaza in the last 24 hours, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.

Since October 2023, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 73,438 people and wounded 174,447.

One person killed, several wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza

At least one person has been killed and several were wounded in an Israeli air attack on a displaced persons’ tent in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, a source at Nasser Hospital said.

Elsewhere, a pregnant woman was wounded in an Israeli strike on Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, our colleagues on the ground are reporting.

At least five people killed in new Israeli attacks on Gaza in past 24 hours: Ministry

Israel has killed five people in Gaza in the last 24 hours, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.

Two people have also succumbed to injuries sustained in previous Israeli attacks, the ministry added.

At least 1,303 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since last year’s “ceasefire”, it added.

The number of Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks since October 2023 now totals 73,438, the ministry said.

Gaza cannot ‘bear another catastrophe’: Mladenov tells UNSC

Nikolay Mladenov, the high representative for the Gaza Board of Peace from Bulgaria, has told the UN Security Council that Hamas’s decision to disarm and transfer authority to a transitional administration is “the opportunity to dramatically improve life in a sustainable way for Palestinians in Gaza”.

“For the first time, Hamas and the armed factions in Gaza have agreed to hand over their weapons and to transfer full governing authority – civilian and security – to a transitional administration recognized by the United Nations,” Mladenov told a security council session on rising tensions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

But Mladenov also said major challenges remain – including the continued killing of Palestinian civilians in Israeli attacks – saying, “Gaza does not have it in it to bear another catastrophe.”

“Three things must be in place for the process to move forward: the International Stabilization Force must deploy; Israel’s undertakings under the Sharm el-Sheikh protocol must be implemented; and Hamas must adhere to its commitments,” he said.

The International Stabilization Force is a multinational military and police coalition approved to deploy to the Gaza Strip to provide post-war security, protect humanitarian aid and help disarm militant groups. The Sharm el-Sheikh protocol was a humanitarian agreement mandating the entry of temporary housing (caravans) and civilian infrastructure repairs as part of last year’s ceasefire deal.

Gaza Board of Peace ‘is failing’, aid alliance chief tells UNSC

Athena Rayburn, the executive director of the Association of International Development Agencies, has told the UN Security Council that the US-led Gaza Board of Peace has failed to stop the Israeli attacks that continue to kill Palestinians in the enclave every day.

Rayburn said that, with the operationalization of the Gaza Board of Peace, “the rights of Palestinians in Gaza have been made subordinate to the far-reaching, capricious and arbitrary requirements of its occupier. This is untenable.”

She said while the UNSC Resolution 2803 (Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict) helped provide a framework within which a reduction in hostilities became possible, “the measure of that framework is not whether a Board of Peace or an International Stabilization Force or even a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza has been created.”

“It must be whether those institutions are, in the short term, providing immediate protection, relief and safety for the civilian population and in the long term, moving Gaza towards the required legal end point that has already been adjudicated, the end of Israel’s unlawful presence and the realization of the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination,” she said.

“By these basic measures, the Board of Peace is failing.”

‘We will judge Hamas by what it does, not only by what it says,’ US envoy tells UNSC

US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz has blamed Hamas for escalating violence in Gaza but left the possibility open for the group to fulfil its obligations under the Gaza ceasefire.

Hamas is “responsible for horrific acts of violence against Americans, against Israelis, against the people of Gaza and the rest of the world”, Waltz said.

In recent weeks, Israel has ramped up its attacks on the Gaza Strip, targeting its police force, destroying aid facilities and killing dozens of Palestinian civilians in the process.

“Hamas itself has committed to disarm twice now actually, first in October of 2025 following the president’s [Trump’s] peace plan and again just a few weeks ago when it accepted the 15-point actionable roadmap presented by the Board of Peace to implement the plan. Obviously, there are skeptics. We hear them. We all know what kind of organization that we’re dealing with.”

Netanyahu outright rejected the roadmap after it was announced by the US and the Board of Peace. Reports indicated that this has caused tensions between US and Israeli leaders.

“We will judge Hamas by what it does, not only by what it says,” Waltz added.

Mladenov’s UN Security Council address ‘indecisive’ on Israeli ceasefire violations

Nikolay Mladenov’s address to the UN Security Council today was “indecisive” about Israel’s continued violations of the Gaza ceasefire, Eyad al-Qarra, a political analyst in Gaza, says.

“His position should have been more vocal about Israel’s crimes and the implementation of the ceasefire and the peace plan,” al-Qarra said, adding that Mladenov “should have taken concrete steps to urge Israel’s commitment to the plan.”

He said the Security Council session “did not provide any clarity on how the next steps will be implemented or when,” and that Mladenov “justified Israel’s continued violations in one way or another.”

Al-Qarra said Israel “has escalated its attacks in Gaza under different pretexts,” warning that “the silence of the UNSC and the United States deepens the crisis on the ground.”

Israeli diplomat reiterates calls for Hamas disarmament at UNSC

Noa Furman, Israel’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, has reiterated calls for Hamas disarmament to end Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, during a session on rising tensions in the enclave and the occupied West Bank.

“Israel is committed to US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict. But the plan cannot succeed while Hamas remains armed,” Furman said.

In recent weeks, Israel has ramped up its attacks on the Gaza Strip, targeting its police force, destroying aid facilities and killing dozens of Palestinian civilians, including children, in the process.

“The civilians of Gaza are not Israel’s enemy,” said Furman. Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed 73,438 people and injured 174,447, mainly civilians – elderly, women and children, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.

At least 100 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks in past two weeks

Ramiz Alakbarov, the acting UN special coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, has told the UN Security Council that Israeli air strikes since August 12 have killed at least 100 Palestinians in Gaza and injured more than 400 people.

“Conditions in Gaza remain dire despite a nearly year-old ceasefire”, Alakbarov told the UNSC, during a session on rising tensions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Israel accused of withholding remains of nearly 800 Palestinians, including women and children

Organisations representing Palestinian prisoners and the Palestinian National Campaign for the Retrieval of Martyrs’ Bodies and Disclosure of the Fate of the Missing released a statement alleging that Israel is withholding Palestinian human remains.

The statement said Israel’s withholding of bodies “deprives Palestinian families of knowing the fate of their loved ones, bidding them farewell and burying them”.

According to the statement, the campaign and institutions have identified 799 individuals whose remains are still being held.

The Palestinian National Campaign for the Retrieval of Martyrs’ Bodies and Disclosure of the Fate of the Missing is a civil society group that demands Israel release the bodies of Palestinians killed so families can bury them. They also investigate missing persons cases.

Israeli has been snatching and holding dead bodies of Palestinians as bargain chips for many years.

ICC president says court ‘must never be shut down’ despite US threats

The President of the International Criminal Court (ICC) says the institution “must never be shut down”.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Tomoko Akane said she “won’t give up” despite US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announcing sanctions on her and a colleague last week.

Akane, who is from Japan, has received support from the country’s prime minister.

“Judges in the past who were similarly sanctioned also struggled, but they never lost passion for their jobs or complained they wanted to quit,” she said. “I want to follow their example.”

Rubio has vowed to dismantle the ICC, accusing it of pursuing officials “whose government has not consented” to its jurisdiction.

The move is widely seen as an attempt to defang the court because of its decision to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for war crimes and crimes against humanity in November 2024. The ICC also issued an arrest warrant for former Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

• The Israeli army arrested three Palestinians in Nablus along with several others in Hebron, Tulkarem, and Jenin.
• Israeli forces detained about 40 staff members during a raid on UNRWA’s vocational training centre in Qalandiya, north of Jerusalem, before evicting them. Israeli authorities evacuated the building and raised the occupation flag over it.
• Israeli bulldozers demolished shacks and sheep pens, and levelled land in Duma, south of Nablus. More than 100 centuries-old olive trees were uprooted in Barta’a.
• Colonists continued their siege on three homes in Qusra, south of Nablus, for the third consecutive week, restricting local movement. They also cut down electricity poles in Burin, attacked homes and monuments in Madma and
• Turmus Aya, and targeted solar panels in Tubas, while blocking firefighting crews and activists.
• Israeli forces closed the Al-Jib and Beit Aksa checkpoints northwest of Jerusalem and set up new military checkpoints near Ramallah and west of Bethlehem, disrupting local travel.
• Israeli authorities approved 18 new and modified colonial zoning areas in the occupied West Bank, including plans for new coloniess, illegal under international law, the domestic legalisation of outposts, and expansions of existing councils.

Marvel actors join campaign for release of Palestinian politician Barghouti

More than 20 actors known for roles in Marvel films and series have joined an international campaign calling for the release of Palestinian politician Marwan Barghouti, who is being held by Israel and, according to the campaign, in solitary confinement since 2023.

The “Free Marwan Now” campaign, launched by Barghouti’s family and backed by more than 200 figures from film, music and literature, said on Instagram that it is “gravely concerned” about his continued imprisonment, “violent mistreatment”, and denial of legal rights. It called on the UN and world governments to seek his release.

Signatories include Ian McKellen, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and Hugo Weaving, among others.

Barghouti, 68, a former Fatah secretary-general and prominent figure in the first Intifada, was arrested by Israel in 2002 and later convicted on charges including murder in connection with second Intifada-era attacks that killed five people. He was sentenced to five life terms, plus 40 years.

In February 2024, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered his transfer to solitary confinement at Ramon Prison, citing intelligence about alleged uprising plans, a move that raised concerns among Palestinians for Barghouti’s safety.

Israeli soldiers block Knesset member from besieged Palestinian home

Israeli soldiers blocked Knesset member Ofer Cassif from reaching a Palestinian family home in the occupied West Bank village of Qusra, where colonists have maintained a 17-day siege.

Cassif eventually reached the families and expressed his support.

Israeli forces deploy military reinforcements to Qalandiya Training Center

The Jerusalem governorate has said new Israeli military reinforcements arrived at the Qalandiya Training Center in the early morning hours, as Israeli forces continue to occupy the facility operated by UNRWA in the neighborhood of Kafr Aqab, in occupied East Jerusalem.

Before the raid on Tuesday, which UNRWA condemned, Israeli forces closed the nearby Qalandiya checkpoint, the primary Israeli outpost between East Jerusalem and the northern West Bank. Soldiers expelled all UNRWA employees from the site, instructing them not to return.

Hamas slams Israeli takeover of UNRWA center led by Ben-Gvir

The Palestinian group condemned Tuesday’s raid and seizure of the UNRWA vocational training facilities in Qalandiya, north of occupied East Jerusalem, by Israeli forces led by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Hamas said the Qalandiya Training Center's takeover, the detention and interrogation of its staff, and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyard “represent a blatant act of aggression” against the Palestinian people and their rights and “a dangerous step by the terrorist occupation government to target UNRWA”.

It added that the fact that the attack came a day after 28 diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Palestine visited the centre “confirms the criminal nature of the occupation and its leaders, and their flagrant defiance of the international community and UN resolutions”.

Hamas called on the international community and UN institutions to take measures to counter Israel’s plans to target UNRWA and to protect the agency responsible for providing relief to the Palestinian people.

Qatar condemns Israeli raid of key UNRWA facility in occupied East Jerusalem

Qatar has condemned the storming of an UNRWA facility by Israeli forces in occupied East Jerusalem, calling it a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law”.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Israel’s targeting of UNRWA facilities as “systematic” and aimed at depriving millions of Palestinians in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon of essential services, and called on the international community to take immediate action to protect UNRWA.

Israeli forces raided the Qalandiya Training Centre on Tuesday in the neighbourhood of Kafr Aqab, in occupied East Jerusalem. The facility is vital to UNRWA’s operations in Palestine. Israel ordered staff to leave after seizing the site and said it will shut it down.

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was present during the raid.

Israel has accused UNRWA of harbouring members of Hamas who took part in the October 7, 2023 attacks.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has said Israel has not substantiated these allegations.

Israeli forces continue occupying UNRWA center

Israeli forces are occupying the UNRWA Qalandiya facility for a second day running.

On Tuesday, Wafa news agency reported that soldiers had raised the Israeli flag outside the facility.

Elsewhere, in in the town of Bir Nabala, Israeli forces closed the main road, restricting Palestinians’ movements.

The Israeli army also closed the Beit Iksa military checkpoint, which is the village of Beit Iksa’s only access point, without notifying the local village council, Wafa reported.

Additionally, Israeli forces began excavating around the Al-Hamma spring in the northern Jordan Valley while expanding their presence on the Palestinian farmland. Wafa reported that Israeli forces forced residents to remove their cattle and stop using the spring which they rely on for drinking and irrigation.

Israel’s foreign ministry claims UN chief is lying about seized UNRWA facility

Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein has accused UN chief Antonio Guterres of lying about the nature of the UNRWA training center in occupied East Jerusalem that has been forcibly evacuated and seized by Israeli forces.

In a tweet, Guterres had condemned “in the strongest terms today’s actions by the Israeli authorities to unlawfully enter & remain on the UNRWA Kalandia Training Center in occupied East Jerusalem & carry out unauthorized works in those premises”.

Marmorstein claimed “UNRWA has never had any property rights in the facility and occupied it unlawfully”.

An occupying power is not allowed to enter or seize a UN compound, and its claim that the UN lacks property rights or legal protection in occupied territory is completely wrong.

• Under the United Nations Charter and international conventions, UN property, premises, and assets are completely inviolable.
• They are immune from search, requisition, confiscation, seizure, or any other form of interference by any party, including an occupying military force.
• This protection must be upheld even during armed conflict or occupation to allow the UN to perform its duties safely and independently.
• Belligerent occupation (when a foreign military controls a territory) is temporary and does not give the occupying power legal ownership or sovereignty over the land.

UK minister condemns ‘outrageous’ Israeli seizure of UNRWA centre in occupied East Jerusalem

Stephen Doughty, the UK’s minister of state for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan, has condemned the forcible entry into and seizure of UNRWA’s Qalandiya Training Centre in occupied East Jerusalem, calling it “outrageous”.

“This UN facility has offered generations of Palestinian refugees education & opportunity,” Doughty wrote. “Israel must comply with its obligations and respect inviolability of UN premises.”

EU commissioner demands Israel respect UN premises after raid on East Jerusalem training site

Hadja Lahbib, the European commissioner for equality, preparedness and crisis management, condemned yesterday’s Israeli assault on the UNRWA centre in Jerusalem, calling it “unlawful”.

Lahbib said the entry of Israeli forces into the Qalandiya Training Center in East Jerusalem and “the unauthorized works carried out there are absolutely unacceptable”.

She demanded that Israel “protect and respect the inviolability of UN premises”.

“This centre helps hundreds of young Palestine refugees access vocational education,” she said, adding “UN facilities must be protected and international humanitarian law must be upheld”.

US senator slams ‘extremists in the Israeli govt’ over UNRWA raid

US Senator Chris Van Hollen has slammed Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and extremists in the Israeli government over Tuesday’s raid on a United Nations training centre in the occupied West Bank.

In a post on X, Van Hollen said: “Ben-Gvir & extremists in the Israeli govt want to get rid of UNRWA with the hopes of ensuring that there is no such thing as a Palestinian refugee.”

Ben-Gvir joined the Israeli forces’ raid on the Qalandiya Training Centre, a key facility operated by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), in the Kafr Aqab neighbourhood in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who has accused the UN agency of assisting Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attack, said he ordered the raid.

“The world should not continue to sit back & let this happen to UNRWA,” Van Hollen said.

Israeli forces arrest three children in raids across occupied West Bank

• Arrested three Palestinians in Jenin, including a man who was previously wounded by Israeli gunfire which led to his disability.

Netanyahu says Israel to expand colonies in West Bank despite global backlash

Netanyahu has promised to continue establishing colonies in the occupied territory despite mounting international pressure, threatening a major wave of immigration to Palestine, according to his office.

Netanyahu, who is facing tight elections in October, leads one of the most right-wing governments in Israel’s history, which has rapidly approved the construction and expansion of Israeli colonies in the occupied West Bank.

The outposts, often made up of just a few mobile homes or makeshift structures, are illegal under international and Israeli law, but their approval and legalization have surged in recent years.

“We cannot ignore the numbers: 104 communities that we established and legalized together, and 160 farms, with more to come,” Netanyahu said.

Israel has faced growing international outrage over its colony expansion, as violence by colonists against Palestinians soars.

Last week, key European leaders condemned a major colony project after Israeli authorities opened bidding for more than 1,200 homes in the area.

US Senate Democrats urge Netanyahu to stop Israeli violence in West Bank

US Senate Democrats have signed a letter calling on Netanyahu to stop the ongoing “surge” of violence by Israeli colonists and the mass arrests of Palestinians by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

The letter, signed by 45 senators, stated the “significant surge” of violence in recent weeks has resulted in “a large-scale response by Israeli security forces, mass arrests of Palestinians, and reported attacks by colonists on mosques”.

They urged Netanyahu to increase investigations into the deaths of nine American citizens they said have been killed by colonists or security forces in the West Bank since 2022.

The letter was drafted by Senator Adam Schiff of California; Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York, who has been one of Israel’s most prominent supporters in Congress; and Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey.

This is the latest sign of growing friction between Democrats in Congress and the Israeli government over its actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Denmark joins international condemnation over Israel’s E1 colony plan in occupied West Bank

A joint statement by Denmark, UK, France, Germany, Italy, the European Commission, the Netherlands and Canada, along with others, has condemned Israel’s decision to publish construction tenders for the E1 colony project.

“The Israeli Government’s decision to publish construction tenders for the E1 colony project is unacceptable,” the leaders said, warning it would “undermine the prospect of the two-state solution by driving a wedge through the West Bank and harming the territorial contiguity of the Palestinian Territories”.

They reaffirmed that “international law is clear that Israeli colonies in the West Bank are illegal” as described by the UN.

Citing “unprecedented levels of violence by colonists against civilians” and “serious restrictions on the Palestinian economy”, the signatories urged Israel to “retract these plans immediately and end its expansion of colonies in the West Bank”. They warned the move would “further undermine Israel’s international standing”.

They also cautioned businesses against bidding for related construction tenders, citing “legal and reputational consequences including the risk of involving themselves in serious breaches of international law”.

‘Israeli politicians will take the position they want’ on West Bank colonies: White House

A White House official has said that “Israeli politicians will take the position they want” when asked whether Trump supports the expansion of colonies in the occupied West Bank.

“A stable West Bank keeps Israel secure and is in line with this administration’s goal to achieve peace in the region,” the official, who wished to remain anonymous, said.

“Israel is a democracy and Israeli politicians will take the positions that they want, and we are in constant communication with them on maintaining peace and stability in the region. We are not getting into the content of diplomatic conversations.”

Canada revokes Jerusalem deputy mayor’s travel visa over illegal colony activities

Canada has removed travel authorization for Jerusalem’s Deputy Mayor Arieh King over his illegal colony activities, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

King, who is known for his efforts to seize Palestinian homes in occupied East Jerusalem, had been scheduled to attend a fundraising event in Canada for his colony initiatives, the report said.

He also called for the seizure of UNRWA’s headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the establishment of a colony at the site.

King told Haaretz that Canada’s withdrawal of his travel authorization “came as a result of a campaign waged against me by Arabs”.

Israeli colonies in occupied Palestinian territory are considered illegal under international law. The Canadian government has not commented on the reported cancellation of his visa.

Israeli court acquits colonist who assaulted French nun in Jerusalem

An Israeli court has acquitted Yona Schreiber, a colonist from the occupied West Bank colony of Peduel, who assaulted a French Catholic nun near Jerusalem’s Old City earlier this year, ruling him not responsible on grounds of “mental illness”.

The Jerusalem Magistrate Court issued the ruling Wednesday.

Schreiber’s lawyer, Idan Gamliel, described the attack as an “unfortunate incident” and said the defence took “note” of the nun’s “difficult feelings” about the assault.

Schreiber attacked the 48-year-old nun, a researcher at Jerusalem’s French School of Biblical and Archaeological Research, outside the Cenacle on Mount Zion in April, pushing her to the ground and kicking her in the head.

She required medical treatment immediately after the attack.

Israeli forces ‘tightening noose’ around besieged Palestinians in West Bank’s Qusra

Abdul-Azim Wadi, the head of the municipal council in the village of Qusra, south of Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, said that Israeli forces have started placing concrete blocks and installing an iron gate on one of the two roads leading to the families besieged by colonists in the village.

“Israel is tightening the noose around the besieged families and making it more difficult to reach them except with prior coordination,” he said.

Wadi says the other road already has an Israeli military checkpoint.

On Tuesday, Israeli soldiers blocked Knesset member Ofer Cassif from reaching a Palestinian family home in the village of Qusra, where colonists have maintained a 17-day siege. Cassif eventually reached the families and expressed his support.

Meanwhile, Israeli colonists have taken over a Palestinian house in the village of Jalud, almost 4km (2.4 miles) from Qusra.

‘Peace cannot be achieved without ending Israeli occupation’, Qatar envoy tells UNSC

Alya Ahmed Saif al-Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to the United Nations, has told the UN Security Council that Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories must end for there to be durable peace in the region.

“Just, comprehensive and durable peace cannot be achieved without ending Israeli occupation,” said al-Thani, who was speaking for the Arab Group at a council session on rising tensions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

She condemned “ongoing gross Israeli violations” across Gaza and the occupied West Bank, including Israel’s rejection of both a Palestinian state and the 2025 Comprehensive Plan, a US-led multilateral agreement to stop the war, return hostages and rebuild the Gaza Strip.

“This is a direct rejection of the [US President Trump’s] Comprehensive Plan, jeopardizing its implementation and fundamentally undermining collective efforts to achieve just and durable peace,” she stressed, urging the plan’s full implementation.

“Palestinians’ right to self-determination must be upheld”, al-Thani said, welcoming growing international recognition of the state of Palestine.

Israeli annexation reached point of no return, Palestinian envoy tells UNSC

Riyad Mansour, the permanent observer of Palestine to the United Nations, has told the UN Security Council that Israel’s annexation of Palestinian land has reached a point of no return.

“Annexation has long been under way, but Israel has now crossed the Rubicon when it comes to full-fledged, full-blown annexation with the release of the tenders for the E1 plan,” Mansour said.

He said that Israel did not care that annexation destroys any prospect for peace in the Middle East.

“This is indeed their objective, as their appetite for colonial conquest is far greater than their concern for their own people,” he said.

Israeli forces detain Palestinian brothers in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have detained brothers Bilal Bassam Ziada and Hamza Bassam Ziada, from Madama village in the occupied West Bank’s Nablus governorate, according to Palestinian sources.

The detentions came following a campaign of Israeli raids in the village, according to the Palestinian Dialogue Forum (PALDF).

Israeli forces raid Nablus, Jenin with military vehicles

Israeli forces have carried out several new raids in the Jenin and Nablus areas of the occupied West Bank, reports the Wafa news agency.

In Jenin governorate, Israeli forces stormed Jenin city, the nearby town of Qabatiya and several other areas with military vehicles, in one case searching Palestinians’ homes, according to the agency.

Israeli forces also entered an eastern area of Nablus governorate with about a dozen military vehicles and a bulldozer, said Wafa, adding that they were providing protection for Israeli colonists who visited the Joseph’s Tomb monument.

Two Palestinians wounded by Israeli forces during raid just outside Jerusalem

Two Palestinians have been wounded by Israeli army gunfire in the town of Beit ‘Anan, just northwest of Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Governorate says.

After raiding the town, Israeli forces fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters, wounding the two young men, one of whom was shot in the knee, the governorate said.

It added that both were taken to hospital with one in stable condition.
