Hezbollah claims attacks on Israeli forces in southern Lebanon

The Lebanese armed group has claimed several attacks on Israeli forces in recent hours.

In a series of posts on Telegram, Hezbollah said its fighters confronted Israeli troops that landed in a helicopter in the Serghaya plain, located near the Syrian border.

It also said it launched artillery and machinegun attacks on Israeli forces advancing towards Khallat al-Mahafir in the border town of Odaisseh, forcing them to retreat.

Hezbollah claimed artillery attacks on Israeli forces advancing towards the town of Aitaroun.

Israel launches attacks on Iran, Lebanon’s Beirut

Israel fired white phosphorus over Lebanese homes: HRW

Human Rights Watch says there is evidence Israel used white phosphorus in residential areas of southern Lebanon earlier this month, in violation of international humanitarian law.

In a new report, the rights group said it had confirmed the authenticity of seven photos showing white phosphorus munitions fired over a residential area in southern Lebanon’s Yohmor and fires breaking out in at least two homes there on March 3.

Ramzi Kaiss, a Lebanon researcher with Human Rights Watch, said, “The Israeli military’s unlawful use of white phosphorus over residential areas is extremely alarming and will have dire consequences for civilians.”

“The incendiary effects of white phosphorus can cause death or cruel injuries that result in lifelong suffering,” he added.

Residents of Beirut wake up to smoke after multiple Israeli attacks

The latest strikes in Beirut came just before dawn.

Once again, people living in the Lebanese capital are waking up to the smell of smoke and explosives as it drifts over the southern suburb of Dahiyeh.

This is just one of the places in Lebanon that has been subjected to mass forced evacuation orders. Hundreds of thousands of people live in Dahiyeh alone. It is one of the most densely populated parts of the country.

In addition to this strike just before dawn, there were two very large, very heavy air strikes at about 4am local time. They shook the ground, they shook the windows across the city. People felt them in downtown Beirut as well.

Hezbollah claims to have targeted Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon

The Lebanese group says a group of vehicles and soldiers of the Israeli army has been targeted on the outskirts of Odaisseh village with a barrage of rockets.

Hezbollah said the attack came this morning in response to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.

Israel launched helicopter raid deep into Lebanese territory

Before midnight, reports emerged of Israeli helicopters flying along the Lebanese-Syrian border in what appeared to be an attempt to land infantry forces.

Hezbollah issued a statement saying it engaged both the helicopters and the ground troops with what it described as “appropriate weapons”.

This follows a similar Israeli helicopter operation two days ago, centered on the town of Nabi Chit in the Bekaa Valley, about 70km from the Israeli border. That is a significant distance, and these are not the ground troops seen regularly crossing into southern Lebanon, but an air operation striking deep into Lebanese territory.

The Israeli military said the purpose of that earlier mission was to search for the remains of an airman who went missing in the area more than 40 years ago. When troops landed, they came under fire from Hezbollah, and the Israeli air force tried to support their evacuation with dozens of strikes in just minutes that killed 41 people and injured more than 40 others.

It's not clear yet what the purpose of tonight’s attempted infiltration was.

Meanwhile, operations across the country continue. South Lebanon has endured a series of devastating air strikes over the past 24 hours, including one on a residential building with multiple casualties.

Israeli air raids hit more areas in southern Beirut

Lebanon’s National News Agency is reporting a series of Israeli air attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs, including between the neighborhoods of Ghobeiry and Haret Hreik, and in the Safir area.

The report comes hours after Israel’s military, which has been waging days of fierce attacks in southern Beirut, said it was attacking Hezbollah targets in the Lebanese capital.

Israel reiterates forced displacement order for southern Beirut, names new target

Israel’s military has again ordered residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs to flee, threatening imminent strikes on buildings belonging to the Al-Qard al-Hasan financial association, which it claims is involved in financing Hezbollah’s activities.

“I again call on the residents of the southern suburbs to evacuate their homes, according to the evacuation routes we have published,” wrote the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesman, Avichay Adraee, in a post on X.

“Remaining in the area puts your lives at risk.”

"The Israeli army in the past hour issued a warning that all branches of the Al-Qard al-Hassan financial institution, which is under US sanctions and affiliated with Hezbollah, will be targeted.

We are standing less than a kilometer away from a building that is expected to be targeted.

Lebanese authorities have blocked roads, redirecting traffic and making sure people do not approach the building in Nouairi, a neighborhood in central Beirut.

People are living on edge. While Israel has issued a warning, more often than not, strikes come without any prior notice.

We don’t know when a strike will come – sometimes it comes a few minutes after a warning, sometimes an hour later.

This gives you a sense of what life has become for those in Beirut. It is very similar to what people went through in late 2024 during the last major confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah."

Lebanon postpones parliamentary elections by two years

Lebanon’s parliament has postponed legislative elections, initially to be held in May, by two years, according to a statement from the parliament speaker, due to the war between Israel and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.

MPs convened on Monday, including Mohammed Raad, head of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, even as Israeli warplanes flew above the nearby southern suburbs of Beirut.

Israeli air strikes kill two paramedics in southern Lebanon: Ministry

Lebanon’s Health Ministry has said two paramedics were killed and six were injured in two separate Israeli air strikes.

According to a statement carried by the National News Agency, the attacks took place in the town of Tayr Debba and the village of Jouaiya in the country’s south.

The ministry said the Israeli army deliberately targeted them as part of what it described as the “systematic targeting of ambulance teams”.

France asks for emergency UN Security Council meeting on Lebanon

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot says his government has asked the UN Security Council to convene an emergency meeting on the situation in Lebanon, which has faced fierce bombardment from Israel over the last week, killing nearly 400 people, according to local health authorities.

Barrot says France has also released about $6.9m “in emergency aid for humanitarian organisations already operating on the ground” in Lebanon and is getting ready to ship 20 additional tonnes of humanitarian aid, due to arrive in the country tomorrow.

“We are continuing our exchanges with the Lebanese and Israeli authorities to prevent the country from descending into chaos, secure a ceasefire, and continue the essential process of Hezbollah’s disarmament,” the top French diplomat said.

At least 83 children killed in Lebanon in past 7 days: UNICEF

The UN agency for children, UNICEF, says at least 83 children have been killed and 254 injured in Lebanon since March 2, as the war between Israel and Hezbollah intensified.

“On average, more than 10 children have been killed every day across Lebanon over the past week, with approximately 36 children injured each day,” the statement, published on the UNICEF website, said on Monday. “In the last 28 months, 329 children have reportedly been killed in Lebanon and 1,632 were injured,” it added.

“These figures are staggering. They are a stark testament to the toll that conflict is taking on children,” the agency said. “Mass displacement across Lebanon has forced nearly 700,000 people – including around 200,000 children – from their homes, adding to the tens of thousands already uprooted from previous escalations.”

The agency called on all parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including schools and shelters, and to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law.

“UNICEF urges immediate efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent further harm to children,” the statement concluded.

Israeli drones, planes heard in Beirut’s Nouairi neighbourhood

"The Israeli military has already destroyed a number of branches of the Al-Qard al-Hassan financial institution in Beirut’s southern suburbs. That area is now empty of residents because of an evacuation order issued last week.

We are now in the Nouairi neighborhood in central Beirut [where there is another building of Al-Qard al-Hassan]. This is a residential neighborhood, where people live, along with businesses and shops. The road [leading up to the Al-Qard al-Hassan branch] has been closed.

In the past few minutes, we’ve heard Israeli drones and even Israeli planes overhead. It’s not clear if this particular branch is going to be hit.

Local authorities have told people in the area to leave, but there is a school [housing displaced people] nearby, and many of them are choosing not to leave the area. There is a lot of tension, a lot of concern now as to whether that Israeli strike is going to come."

People flee from Lebanon to Syria as Israeli attacks intensify

People from Lebanon continue to cross the Arida border into Syria. Dozens of people and families coming through with their personal belongings.

They can only cross the Arida border on foot. The bridges that connect the Syrian and Lebanese sides of the border were significantly damaged and almost completely destroyed in air strikes by Israel in 2024.

After the Syrian regime was toppled, Syrian officials tried to renovate parts of the bridge, but a recent flood that happened in this region destroyed what was fixed. Syrian officials have made their part of the bridge accessible for people walking across.

This is the most northern part of Lebanon on the Syrian border, and this is probably one of the safest places for people to flee to, all the way in the northern part of Lebanon.

The people initially had no plans of coming across the border, but because the attacks are intensifying, they’ve decided to go ahead and make this return to Syria.

And they all are Syrian citizens. But the officials in Arida say they’re preparing to expect large numbers of people to cross over in the coming days and weeks if the violence continues in Lebanon.

Lebanon’s president calls for ‘complete ceasefire’ with Israel

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has called for a “complete ceasefire” with Israel and urged international support for a new plan to stabilize his country.

In a statement posted on social media, Aoun said the proposal includes “establishing a complete ceasefire with a cessation of all Israeli land, air and sea attacks on Lebanon”.

He said the Lebanese armed forces would “immediately take control of the areas of recent tension, confiscate all weapons therein, and disarm Hezbollah and dismantle its weapons depots and storage facilities”.

Aoun also called for international logistical support for the Lebanese army, saying such assistance was needed to implement the plan.

He added that Lebanon and Israel should begin “direct negotiations under international auspices” to reach an agreement on the implementation of the measures.

Sirens going off almost nonstop because of rocket fire: Israel

The military censor has not cleared information for publication yet, but we can tell you eyewitnesses report plumes of smoke from several areas of impact.

The area targeted in central Israel is where about 44 percent of the population lives. This is where the Ben Gurion Airport is, where several military bases are, the Ministry of Defense and Mossad headquarters.

Alarms and sirens are going off almost nonstop in Haifa and the northern communities because of rocket fire from Iran or Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Hezbollah fires rockets on Nahariya, Israeli forces near Lebanon border

Hezbollah says it has carried out two rocket attacks on northern Israel and Israeli forces near the Lebanese border.

In a statement, Hezbollah said it fired a rocket barrage at the Israeli town of Nahariya at 2:55pm (12:55 GMT), saying the attack followed Israeli strikes on Lebanese cities and towns.

In a separate statement, the group said it also targeted Israeli troops near the Lebanese border town of Markaba at 3:30pm (13:30 GMT).

EU says Israeli attacks on Lebanon causing ‘mass displacement’

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has called on Israel to cease its attacks on Lebanon, reiterating diplomacy is the best chance to avoid further destabilization.

“Hezbollah’s decision to attack Israel in support of Iran endangers the entire region and adds a deadly dimension. Israel has the right to self-defense in line with international law,” Kallas said in a statement.

“At the same time, Israel’s response has been heavy-handed. Its retaliation is causing mass displacement and is further destabilizing a fragile situation. Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected.”

Kallas gives a false picture of what the Israelis are doing in Lebanon. They are not causing but creating mass displacement by expressing collective threats as a method to carry out bombardments and demolitions. All under the pretext of "issuing evacuation orders."

Then, on June 16, 2025, Netanyahu called on the United States for help in the assassination of the Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei while knowing that Hezbollah will respond. The Israeli Mossad and the CIA were preparing the assassination since that month. On December 17, 2025, Netanyahu presented Trump attack plans and vowed to attack Iran in 2026 again.

This is not "self-defense" and even not in line with but against international law, as it violates Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, while Kallas makes the European Commission, not the European Union, responsible under states responsibility laws by supporting an Israeli view in conflict with international law..

Hezbollah claims rocket attack on Israeli soldiers near Lebanon border

Lebanon’s Hezbollah group says it targeted Israeli soldiers near the border in a rocket attack.

In a statement, Hezbollah said its fighters struck a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Lebanese border town of Meiss el-Jabal at 5pm local time (15:00 GMT).

Hezbollah claims missile attack on central Israel

The Lebanese group claims it targeted a satellite communications station belonging to the Israeli army in the Elah Valley in Israel, about 160km (100 miles) from the border.

It was targeted with a barrage of sophisticated missiles, a statement by the group said.

Israeli army issues evacuation order for village in southern Lebanon

The Israeli military has issued a forced evacuation order to residents of al-Ansariya village in southern Lebanon, saying it plans to carry out strikes targeting “Hezbollah activity” in the area.

In a statement, the military urged residents to leave their homes immediately and move at least 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) away from the village for their safety.

Hezbollah official says ‘no other option’ than resistance

The head of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, Mohamed Raad, has vowed to continue fighting Israel “whatever the cost”.

During remarks broadcast by Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV, Raad defended Hezbollah’s actions and said the group’s goal is “to drive the enemy out of our occupied land … And quite plainly, we have no other option to preserve honor, pride and dignity than the option of resistance”.

His comments come after Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun lashed out at Hezbollah, saying it “wanted to bring about the collapse of the Lebanese state” by fighting with Israel.

Israel says more attacks from Lebanon than Iran over past week

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar says that over the past week, there have been more attacks on Israel from Hezbollah in Lebanon than from Iran.

Sa'ar said he met UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert in West Jerusalem and alleged that Hezbollah joined the war following “Iranian pressure”.

“I detailed our decision not to evacuate our residents from northern communities this time, and stressed our commitment to protect them. I emphasized that the deployment of … troops in the border area is critical for preventing an invasion of Hezbollah’s ground forces and attacks against Israeli citizens and communities,” Sa'ar said.

“I stressed that weakening Hezbollah is a mutual interest of both Israel and Lebanon. I also said that Hezbollah initiated an attack against us and no member of the international community is acting to stop it besides us.”

Seven people killed in Israeli raid on southern Lebanon

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports seven people have been killed during an Israeli attack on the town of al-Namiriya in the south of the country.

At the same time, Israel launched an air strike on the town of Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district of the south.

Hezbollah says it fired rockets at Israeli military near Hula

Hezbollah says it launched a rocket attack on an Israeli military position near the Lebanese border following Israeli strikes on Lebanon.

In a statement, the group said its fighters targeted Israel near the border town of Hula this morning.

The attack was carried out “in response to the criminal Israeli aggression that targeted dozens of Lebanese cities and towns and the southern suburbs of Beirut”, it said.

Israel’s Smotrich says soldier son wounded after attack near Lebanon

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich says shrapnel tore through his son’s liver during an attack near the Lebanese border that wounded eight Israeli soldiers.

In a post on X, Smotrich said a mortar round was launched towards the soldiers on the Lebanese border on Friday. “One of them is my beloved son – Benya Hebron,” he wrote.

The far-right Israeli cabinet member said shrapnel “penetrated his back and stomach” and he was rushed to hospital.

“By the grace of God, one of the shrapnel tore through his liver and lodged in the wall of the largest blood vessel in his stomach. If, God forbid, it had been damaged, the situation would have been much worse,” he said.
