Israeli forces conduct overnight explosions and shelling in south Lebanon
Israeli forces have carried out a series of explosions and shelling across several southern Lebanese towns overnight and at dawn, Lebanon’s National News Agency is reporting.
Demolitions were reported in Haddatha at dawn following overnight explosions in al-Mansouri, while artillery shells struck Majdal Zoun and surrounding valleys.
Illumination flares were also dropped over the Tyre and Bint Jbeil regions as military drones patrolled above the Litani River from Qasmiyeh to the Qaqaiyat al-Jisr, NNA said.

Prominent Russian general says Israel risks ceasing ‘to exist as a state’
A senior Russian military official has claimed that Israel’s primary objective is to escalate conflict in the Middle East to draw the United States and NATO into war.
Speaking to Russia’s state-owned news agency TASS, Lieutenant General Apty Alaudinov, deputy chief of the Russian army’s Main Military-Political Directorate and commander of the Akhmat special forces unit, argued that the situation in the region will only continue to intensify.
“We must realize that the war in the Middle East will only escalate. I believe that is precisely Israel’s objective: to ramp up the conflict as much as possible and drag both the US and the entire NATO bloc into it,” Alaudinov said.
“Ultimately, they [Israel] will overestimate their strength and cease to exist as a state,” he added.

Overnight Israeli strikes target Lebanon’s Ali al-Taher Hill
Overnight Israeli strikes have targeted the Ali al-Taher Hill area in Lebanon’s Nabatieh district, reports Lebanon’s National News Agency.
The agency shared a photo appearing to show an explosion in the area, but did not report any casualties.
Earlier, as we reported, Israeli forces carried out a series of explosions and shelling across several southern Lebanese towns, including demolitions in Haddatha and artillery attacks in Majdal Zoun and its surrounding valleys.

Home destroyed by Israeli attack in Lebanon’s Nabatieh al-Fawqa: Lebanese state media
An overnight Israeli air attack targeted a family home in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh al-Fawqa, destroying it, Lebanon’s National News Agency reports.
Overnight Israeli strikes also targeted the nearby Ali al-Taher Hill area, as we reported earlier.

Lebanese president: Ending ‘current situation’ in south key to reconstruction
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun says the government will continue working to rebuild the state while seeking to “end the current situation” in southern Lebanon.
Speaking before the board of the National Council for Scientific Research, Aoun said: “The biggest challenge is reconstruction after Israel withdraws from the occupied towns and villages and the Lebanese army deploys up to the border.”
Israel continues to carry out intermittent attacks in southern Lebanon, and frequently carries out large-scale demolitions of homes and infrastructure in southern towns and villages.

Two killed in southern Lebanon in explosion of suspected Israeli war remnant: Lebanese state media
Two young men have been killed and others injured due to the explosion of a “suspicious object” near southern Lebanon’s Mayfadoun, reports Lebanon’s National News Agency.
The munition is believed to have been left by Israeli forces previously operating in the area, according to the agency.

4,348 killed by Israel in Lebanon since March 2, health ministry says
At least 4,348 people have been killed in Lebanon since Israel began its latest war on Lebanon on March 2, 2026, according to figures released by the country’s Ministry of Public Health.
At least 393 women and 257 children are among those killed as a result six months of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon. At least 12,307 people were injured during this time.
The figures also reveal deaths in terms of the nationalities of those killed in the country, including 537 Syrians and 234 Palestinians.
At least 32 Lebanese soldiers have been killed.
The Israeli invasion damaged at least 17 hospitals, where as 179 attacks on medical personnel were recorded, with 39 medical emergency vehicles, including ambulances, destroyed.

What’s happening in Lebanon’s ‘pilot zones’?
Western Zawtar is a village in south Lebanon and in the first pilot zone agreed on between Lebanon and Israel during the negotiations.
There’s lots of destruction around.
During the negotiations, there were requests from Israel, conveyed and stressed by the United States, that there needs to be a verification process, which means Israel and the United States need other countries to send troops to these areas, including starting from Zawtar and then going towards south Lebanon to verify that there is no presence of Hezbollah in these areas.
Only then can people return and start rebuilding.
Zawtar wasn’t actually occupied completely. To the south, there are more and more villages, some of which have been completely erased.
There appears to be a systematic Israeli attempt to uproot life from the main areas on the border with Israel in what’s called the “yellow zone”.
The towns and villages in that zone have been erased.
The big question is, what’s the aim of that? Is it just to keep these areas without people, or are there other intentions?
