Situation in southern Syria worsening due to Israeli expansion
Israeli forces killed 22-year old Syrian-Palestinian Muhammad Abu on Monday night after opening fire at farmers in Hamida in the Damascus countryside. Israeli forces said the man was shot as he approached its army position inside Syrian territory.
The situation in southern Syria remains quite tense as Israeli forces expand military operations. Israel has spent the last year and a half significantly expanding the territory that it is taking control of by force, beyond the established buffer zone.
The Syrian government says it wants the Israeli forces to withdraw to the border zone established in 1974, but the Israelis are expanding control instead of retreating.
