Qatar, Jordan condemn Israeli violations in Syria

Qatar has condemned what it called ongoing Israeli violations in Syrian territory, including continued work on the Sofa 53 line.

Also known as “The Great Storm”, it is a military road, berm and trench that Israel has been building in Syria’s Quneitra countryside since 2022, inside the buffer zone covered by the 1974 disengagement agreement.

A Qatari Foreign Ministry statement described Israel’s actions as a “flagrant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty, a breach of international law and a “serious threat to regional security”.

Jordan also condemned what it called Israel’s resumption of operations describing it as a “flagrant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty and a “blatant breach of international law”.

Kuwait condemns Israeli violations in Syria

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry has expressed the country’ “strong condemnation and denunciation of the ongoing violations perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the territories of the fraternal Arab Republic of Syria”.

It added that the latest violation “was the completion of work on what is known as the Sofa 53 Line”.

Israeli forces have fired an artillery shell at agricultural land between the village of Buraiqa and the town of Kodana in the southern Quneitra countryside, Syria’s Al-Ikhbariah TV is reporting.

Israeli army kills man in southern Syria

The Israeli army says its forces have “neutralized” a suspect who allegedly attempted to infiltrate one of its sites in southern Syria.

The army said in a post on X that its troops “fired toward the suspect and neutralized him”, with no injuries to its forces.
