Hezbollah, its allies mark second anniversary of late leader Nasrallah’s death
Supporters and allies of late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah have gathered to commemorate the second anniversary of his assassination by Israel, with events held in Lebanon, Iran, Iraq and Yemen.
Thousands of Lebanese supporters of Hezbollah gathered near Nasrallah’s tomb in Beirut’s southern suburbs, many carrying Hezbollah flags. Nasrallah led the Lebanese armed group for more than 30 years before he was killed in an Israeli air strike in September 2024.
In Tehran, the head of the province’s Islamic Propaganda Coordination Council urged people to renew their pledge by waving the Hezbollah flag and holding photographs of Nasrallah, alongside writings on the ideals of the late leader.
Iraq also saw events held in his honor, including in Baghdad’s Tahrir square. Iraq’s first deputy parliament speaker, Adnan Faihan, said in a statement carried by Iraq’s state news agency that Nasrallah’s killing was “a luminous milestone in the path of the Resistance”.
In Yemen, the Houthis’ General Mobilization body and the local authority in Amran governorate held a speech event marking the anniversary of what they called “the martyrdom” of Hezbollah’s secretary-general.

Defiant Hezbollah chief says Israel failed to ‘break the resistance’
Naim Qassem, the leader of Hezbollah, says Israel has failed to break the Lebanese armed group, in a speech marking two years since it killed his predecessor Hassan Nasrallah.
Israel and its soldiers “were unable to achieve their goals to break the resistance, end its existence, consolidate the Israeli occupation and establish settlements in Lebanon”, Qassem said in a televised address to thousands of supporters in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
He rebuked the Lebanese government for its US-brokered agreement with Israel and accused Washington of “trying to control the entire world”, leaving “no longer a global system of justice, nor is there an international law”.
Qassem also thanked Iran for its support for Hezbollah.
