As Israeli election approaches, Netanyahu says attack on Iran ‘not convenient’ right now

With Israel’s election approaching on October 27, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told the country’s Army Radio that any US or Israeli attack on Iran is “not convenient” right now.

His comments come a day after Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Netanyahu had urged Trump to resume attacks on Iran before the Israeli vote and the US midterm elections a week later.

Netanyahu also told Army Radio that far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir would not become defence minister if the prime minister’s bloc wins the election.

Netanyahu said that while Ben-Gvir wants the post, the decision is not his, and the defence ministry position will stay with his Likud party.

Israeli prime minister says Iran’s ‘regime must go’, but unlikely to fall before Israeli elections

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says overthrowing Iran’s government remains essential, but acknowledges that it is unlikely to happen before Israel’s elections on October 27.

In an interview with Israeli public broadcaster Kan’s Ayla Hasson, Netanyahu said Israel had significantly weakened Iran’s leadership but still needed to “finish the job”.

“We have done a great deal. We have crushed it. They are at their weakest point, but we need to finish the job,” he said.

Asked whether Iran’s government could be overthrown before the elections, Netanyahu replied: “No, I don’t think that’s realistic.”

He accused political rivals Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan of opposing efforts to overthrow Iran’s government, insisting that its removal was necessary for Israel’s security.

“This regime must go,” Netanyahu said, arguing that Israeli military operations against Iran had prevented it from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Israel, US sign deal for Israeli military to acquire 12 attack helicopters

Israel’s Ministry of Defence has announced an agreement with the US Pentagon to acquire 12 Boeing-manufactured Apache attack helicopters for the Israeli military.

According to the ministry, the helicopters are scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of the next decade and are “of the ‘Echo’ variant, the newest and most advanced model of the helicopter”.

“The agreement was tailored through a joint Israeli-American effort to meet the needs of the State of Israel,” it said.

International law states, when a party declares war against other parties, the declaring party is a war belligerent.

The Israelis never lifted the declaration of war (against Arab countries) since 1967 after the then-Israeli prime minster Leny Eshkol issued that declaration.

Any country that supplies munitions and military equipment to a belligerent party, knowing that delivered munitions and military equipment will be used in a war, is a co-belligerent thus a accomplice.
