Israeli attacks kill 9 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in the past day
Nine Palestinians have been killed and 31 others wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours.
Since the “ceasefire” took effect in October 2025, at least 1,431 people have been killed and 5,026 wounded, the Health Ministry said. Another 834 bodies have been recovered from under the vast rubble of destroyed buildings during that period.
The total death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza since October 2023 has reached 74,032, with 175,142 Palestinians wounded.

Israeli attacks wound 6 Palestinians in Gaza including 2 children
Israeli forces have injured six Palestinians across the war-battered Gaza Strip as violence continues despite a “ceasefire”.
Local sources told the official Wafa news agency two children were among four people wounded in an Israeli drone strike on a displacement shelter in southern Gaza, with one victim reportedly in serious condition.
In central Gaza, two other Palestinians were seriously injured by Israeli soldiers southeast of Deir el-Balah.

At least 4 killed, 14 wounded in Israeli attack on vehicle
Four Palestinians have been killed and 14 others wounded in an Israeli strike on a civilian vehicle in Gaza City.

Israeli strike on Gaza bus kills Al Jazeera correspondent’s brother
Ammar al-Sharafi, brother of Al Jazeera correspondent in Gaza Moamen al-Sharafi, is among the seven people killed in Israel’s earlier strike on a passenger bus in Gaza City’s Tel al-Hawa neighborhood.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that 13 others were injured in the strike.
It is the second time that al-Sharafi has lost family members in Gaza as he reported on Israel’s genocide from the ground.
On December 6, 2023, an Israeli air strike on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza killed 22 of his family members, including his parents, Mahmoud and Amina, his siblings and their spouses, and his nephews and nieces, while they sheltered in the family home.

Doctors say death toll from vehicle attack in Gaza likely to rise
The latest Israeli strike on Gaza that killed five people was on a Volkswagen vehicle carrying people from the north to the south.
In the past couple of minutes in Tal al-Hawa in Gaza City, doctors are saying that the injuries sustained by the victims of the attack are critical.
They also say it’s difficult to save lives of the wounded because the health system is decimated from years of Israeli attacks and the blockade. The number of dead in the strike could rise in the coming hours.
The people have witnessed a spate of attacks in Gaza early this morning. An apartment was targeted earlier killing a 21-year-old man.
There is supposed to be a ceasefire in Gaza, but the Israeli army’s murder is endless. Every day Palestinians are killed, injured and the humanitarian situation is deteriorating.
It is terrifying. Everyone inside the Strip is afraid to go to the supermarket, to take their children to school, and to live their every day lives.

‘Nothing is justifying this’: Qatari PM slams atrocities in Gaza
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has condemned Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, saying whoever is responsible for the devastation in the besieged Palestinian territory is a “war criminal”.
Sheikh Mohammed, who is also Qatar’s foreign minister, made the remark on Tuesday on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” when asked about the nature of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip.
He described the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, as “a massacre” that “should be condemned”. He called for accountability for the perpetrators of that attack, but said the Israeli response was unjustified.
“Hospitals have been targeted, schools have been targeted. Whatever the justifications and the arguments, nothing is justifying this,” he added.

Israel attempting to turn Gaza into a ‘stretch of hell’
Israel’s army is targeting the “foundation of daily life” for besieged Palestinians in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, says Ibrahim al-Madhoun, director of the Palestinian Media Foundation.
“Today, the target bank is life itself: the daily details of Palestinian life,” he said.
Israel continues to pressure Gaza’s residents “in order to create a hostile, unlivable environment – one that compels them to respond to its mechanisms and methods of displacement”, he added.
Al-Madhoun said Israel is proceeding on several tracks.
“First, military pressure through continued assassination operations. Second, striking the foundations of life and preventing the entry of basic necessities,” he said.
“We are talking about a situation in which not even a nail is allowed in, not even a single piece of timber is allowed into the Gaza Strip. Today, even a tent that could shelter them from summer heat and winter cold is unavailable.
“Israel is doing all of this to turn the Gaza Strip into hell and, indeed, life in Gaza today is a stretch of hell.”

Board of Peace ‘has failed to implement Gaza agreement’
The Board of Peace has failed to implement the Gaza agreement, falling into the role of a passive observer rather than an active enforcer, according to Ibrahim al-Madhoun, director of the Palestinian Media Foundation.
“Unfortunately, the Board of Peace’s role is extremely negative,” he said. “It has become like one of the spectators, rather than an active party responsible for implementing the agreement.”
Al-Madhoun said Palestinian factions had been promised “a halt to the aggression, an Israeli withdrawal, the entry of peacekeeping and disengagement forces,” alongside an administrative committee, upon accepting the plan. “Yet Israel has implemented none of what was mentioned,” he said.
“The board makes general remarks and holds all parties responsible for failure, even though one clear party rejects the agreement and refuses to implement it, while the other party is implementing it to the letter,” he said, adding that this failure has triggered growing doubts among Palestinians, across the region, and “even among the mediators” regarding the board’s viability.

Israeli attacks accounted for 70% of all Gaza deaths in 2025
Gaza’s Health Ministry says it recorded 24,650 deaths in the Strip in 2025 in its first official release of mortality data since 2022.
Direct Israeli attacks were the leading cause of death at 70.1 percent, followed by heart disease at 7.7 percent, according to a ministry report. Males made up 73.4 percent of deaths and females 26.6 percent.
Gaza City recorded the highest death rate at 37.3 percent, followed by North Gaza governorate at 20.2 percent, Khan Younis at 19.5 percent, the Middle Area at 12.3 percent and Rafah at 10.7 percent.
The report showed a sharp rise in child mortality. The mortality rate for children under five years climbed to 33.4 per 1,000 live births in 2025, up from 13.6 in 2022. The ministry says the rate would have been 15.8 without war deaths.

Hamas condemns continued Israeli attacks on Gaza
That Palestinian group has said Israel’s “continuing escalation” in the Gaza Strip, including a strike west of Gaza City at noon that killed several people, shows it is reneging on its obligations under the “ceasefire” agreement.
In a statement, Hamas said the continuing assassinations, shooting, bombardment and targeting of civilians are a “very dangerous development” that undermines the chances of implementing the agreement, adding that Israel bears full responsibility for the consequences.
Hamas called on the mediators, the guarantor states and the US administration to move from monitoring violations to taking practical steps to stop them and oblige Israel to respect the existing agreements.

Israeli settlers use Jewish holidays to push into the heart of Palestinian towns
Source: Nida Ibrahim, Ramallah.
Just before this convoy of Israeli settlers raided the Palestinian town of Beitunia near Ramallah, Israeli forces had restricted Palestinians’ movement, closing roads leading to schools and businesses and bringing life to a halt.
This is the largest group of settlers to make it here, coming the closest they have ever gotten to the town. Their excuse: to conduct prayers on Jewish holidays near a spring.
It may be the most daring provocation to date, but it was not limited to Beitunia. Early on Monday, Israeli settlers raided the town of Kifl Haris, in the north of the occupied West Bank.
Palestinians say settlers are using Jewish holidays to push into the heart of their towns and villages to lay claim to their lands, intimidate, and assault Palestinians. Prayers often precede land grabs, marking the sites for future illegal Israeli settlements or outposts. Ahead of the Israeli elections, Palestinians say the violence against them is calculated and part of the electoral campaign.
In July, settlers kicked a Palestinian family out of their home in the middle of Jalud and occupied it for more than two months. The Israeli Supreme Court ordered the settlers to leave, ruling the family could return. But when they did, settlers attacked them an hour later and torched the house. Palestinians in the village and nearby areas were not spared.
Now, settlers are lobbying to use this route, and the army is expected to grant them permission. The road leads to a hospital, a university, and a park, and connects neighborhoods in Ramallah to one another and nearby suburbs.
Allowing settlers to use this street will likely mean that Palestinians will have to use other roads, other parks, and other hospitals, or, as Israeli settlers and politicians alike have repeatedly stated, find life so unbearable, so restricted, and so difficult that they eventually leave.

Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under police protection
At least 500 Israeli settlers have stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of Israeli police on the fifth day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, according to our colleague on the ground.
Israeli media published footage of former Knesset member and Zehut party leader Moshe Feiglin performing rituals inside the compound.
In recent days, several Israeli lawmakers and ministers have entered the compound, most prominently National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who said: “We are the owners of the house, we defeated them.”

Hundreds of Israeli settlers enter Al-Aqsa Mosque
About 700 Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem this morning as provocations at religious sites continue.

Palestine’s FM condemns settler pogrom in occupied West Bank town
Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin has condemned Israeli settler raids in the town of Beitunia in the occupied West Bank.
“A fierce assault of settler terrorism: 100+ settlers stormed Beitunia under military protection, attacking Palestinian vehicles, alongside settler terrorism at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem,” she wrote on X.
“This is intimidation facilitated by military force. Uphold international law. End impunity.”

All those affected were treated at the scene, it added.

US senator forces vote on West Bank violence
Senator Chris Van Hollen says he has forced a Senate vote on a landmark resolution on Israeli violence in the occupied West Bank.
“Violence is raging in the West Bank, & despite the deaths of 9 Americans, the wrongful detention of even more, & the daily torment of Palestinians, we have no accountability from the U.S or Israeli govt,” Van Hollen wrote on X.
“I’m on the Floor now forcing a vote to get answers,” he added.
At least three Americans are currently held in Israeli prisons without charge: Sama Safi, Abdalkareem Safi and Adam Karakah.

US Senate fails to pass resolution on West Bank human rights violations
The US Senate has blocked a resolution that would require the Trump administration to report on human rights violations in the West Bank, including the killings of several Americans.
The procedural vote was the latest sign of friction between US Democrats and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government over Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, and of US Republicans’ continuing strong support for Netanyahu’s coalition.
The bill would have required the State Department to report to Congress on the killing of US citizens by Israeli settlers or Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank and to assess the human rights situation there.
The Senate voted 47 to 51 to block the resolution. Every Democratic senator except John Fetterman voted in favor, and every Republican senator but Rand Paul voted against. The resolution needed a simple majority to pass.
The vote came weeks before the US midterm elections. Polls suggest that Republicans could lose their congressional majorities, potentially signalling a major shift in US policy towards Israel in a new Congress.

US Senate blocks resolution seeking report on Americans killed in West Bank
The United States Senate has blocked a resolution that would have required President Donald Trump’s administration to report on the killing of nine Americans in the occupied West Bank and on Israel’s treatment of Palestinian children in military detention.
The resolution failed 47-53 on Tuesday, with senators voting largely along party lines.
It was brought to the floor by Senator Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat from Maryland, and cited a “lack of accountability” from the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and an “inability to secure justice” from the US government.

Sanders points to growing Senate support for restricting US military aid to Israel
US Senator Bernie Sanders says a growing number of Americans and lawmakers are demanding an end to US military aid to Israel, pointing to a close Senate vote earlier in the day as clear evidence of the shift.
The US Senate blocked a resolution that would have forced the Trump administration to report on Israeli pogroms against Palestinians and violence against Americans in the occupied West Bank. But the vote was close, with 47 to 51 against the measure, and Sanders stressed that the tally shows a massive jump in support compared with past votes.
“In January 2024 I forced a vote to investigate human rights abuses by Israel in Gaza. Only 11 Senators supported it. Today, 47 Senators voted on a similar resolution to investigate Israel’s actions in the West Bank,” Sanders wrote in a post on X.
“Listen to the American people: NO MORE MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL,” he added.

Amnesty calls for immediate release of detained Palestinian herder
Amnesty International’s senior director for research, advocacy, policy, and campaigns, Erika Guevara Rosas, has warned that “Yousef Bisharat remains detained” at the Salem military detention centre without being brought before a judge since September 24.
Bisharat is a Palestinian herder from the northern Jordan Valley who has faced persistent harassment and displacement threats from Israeli settlers and forces. He was detained amid ongoing coercive measures aimed at driving herding communities off their lands.
“We are extremely concerned Israeli authorities may now issue an administrative detention order, allowing him to be imprisoned without charge or trial,” Guevara said in a post on X.
“At Amnesty, we have long denounced Israel’s systematic use of administrative detention against Palestinians,” she wrote. “Such detention can be renewed indefinitely and has repeatedly been used against Palestinians defending their land and human rights.
“We have condemned this practice as cruel and unjust, and its systematic use as arbitrary detention,” she added.
“Israel must release Yousef immediately, and pending his release, ensure he is protected against torture and other ill-treatment.”

Switzerland condemns ‘unprecedented level’ of Israeli settler violence
Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry has condemned yesterday’s attack by about 100 Israeli settlers on the occupied West Bank village of Jalud.
The Foreign Ministry said “the unprecedented level of settler violence cannot be tolerated” amid intensifying attacks and movement restrictions imposed by Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank.
“Israel must protect Palestinian civilians and bring those responsible to justice,” the ministry said in a post on X.

UN: More than 9,000 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons
As of September 2026, more than 9,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons, according to Deputy Head of UN Human Rights in Palestine Neil Tobin.
Speaking at the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council, Tobin said a third of Palestinians in Israeli prisons are held under administrative detention, and more than 1,000 from Gaza are detained as “unlawful combatants”. He said prison conditions “expose Palestinian detainees to prolonged arbitrary deprivation of liberty, torture and other ill-treatment and enforced disappearance”.
Tobin said the situation has deteriorated since 2023, citing 92 Palestinian deaths in Israeli custody, according to the UN Human Rights Office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. One of the victims, 17-year-old Walid al-Basha, died in Israeli prison in March 2025 with severe signs of starvation. “Unless and until each death is the subject of an investigation that meets international standards and disproves allegations of wrongdoing, Israel remains responsible for every single death in custody,” Tobin said.
He called for “regular and unhindered access by independent monitoring bodies with confidential access” to all Palestinian detainees, and for the release of all Palestinians held arbitrarily in Israeli prisons.

Saudi crown prince says kingdom will not hesitate to respond to any threat
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has said the kingdom will not hesitate to respond firmly to any threat or attack that seeks to undermine it.
MBS also reaffirmed support for the Yemeni government to extend its authority throughout the country, restore stability and confront the Houthi attacks, accusing the group of choosing “chaos and destruction”.
The crown prince condemned continued Israeli attacks on the Palestinian territories, as well as the “repeated violations” of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.
While delivering the annual royal speech during the opening of the Shura Council, he noted that the establishment of the “Mecca Defence Pact” between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan aimed to shield the region from escalating conflict.
The kingdom has also initiated the establishment of a “multinational defensive maritime coalition” to protect international waterways, MBS said, while rejecting its exploitation as a tool for political or economic pressure.

US representatives introduce bill sanctioning expanding Israeli settlements
A group of Democratic lawmakers have introduced legislation to impose sanctions on individuals and entities building or expanding illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza.
The Stop the Settlements Act, led by Representatives Joaquin Castro, Madeleine Dean, Don Beyer, Greg Casar, Sara Jacobs and Veronica Escobar, would block new settlement construction or expansion through sanctions and a ban on importing goods made in settlements and outposts.
“Under Netanyahu’s government, settlers are engaged in a violent land grab that’s ripping Palestinians from their land,” said Representative Castro, calling settlement expansion “one of the greatest impediments to peace” and urging Congress to “use every tool we have available, including sanctions”.
Representative Dean said continued settlement construction violates international law and forms part of a “deliberate, expressed strategy” by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to “geographically isolate Palestinian communities” and block a contiguous Palestinian state. She said the bill would target the funding settlers raise through the sale of goods abroad and called for the US to join allies including the UK, France and Canada in taking action.
Beyer pointed to settlement expansion in the E1 corridor bordering East Jerusalem as evidence of intent “to fatally undermine the viability of a future Palestinian state”, saying the legislation “puts teeth” on longstanding US policy.
Representative Jacobs added that continued US inaction amounts to supporting “Israel’s coordinated strategy to consolidate Israeli control and prevent Palestinian statehood.”
The bills mentioned that since December 2022, the Israeli government has approved more than 100 settlements in the West Bank, and Israeli settlers have established nearly 200 “additional outposts,” despite only six settlements approved in the past 30 years.
Yesterday, the Senate blocked a resolution that would have required President Donald Trump’s administration to report on the killing of nine Americans in the occupied West Bank and on Israel’s treatment of Palestinian children in military detention.

US lawmakers step up pressure on Israel over settlements, civilian killings
A growing number of US lawmakers are ramping up pressure on Israel, speaking out sharply against ongoing settler violence and illegal settlement expansion.
US Representative Joaquin Castro called out what he described as a “violent land grab” by settlers that is actively forcing Palestinians off their land.
“Under Netanyahu’s government, settlers are engaged in a violent land grab that’s ripping Palestinians from their land. Sanctions can help stop it,” Castro wrote in a post on X.
He is pushing for the Stop the Settlements Act, a measure that would force anyone trying to seize Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank or Gaza to choose between doing that or doing business with the United States.
Representative Don Beyer joined that call, stressing that a lasting peace is impossible while settlements continue to expand illegally into Palestinian territory.
“The US has opposed this territorial expansion for decades, and our legislation makes clear that we will not tolerate it any longer,” Beyer said.
Meanwhile, Representative Ilhan Omar slammed Senate Republicans for blocking a resolution yesterday that sought answers and accountability for the families of nine Americans killed by Israeli forces over the past four years.
“Senate Republicans just blocked a resolution to get accountability for their families and the thousands of Palestinians facing genocide. Unconscionable,” Omar posted on X.
