  • Israeli attacks across Gaza killed at least four Palestinians and wounded 12 on Sunday, medical sources said.

Israeli military claims to have killed Hamas sniper

The military says the sniper was killed in a strike in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday.

It identified the man as Adi Adil Abd al-Aaser.

Gaza death toll rises during Israeli attacks

Four people have been killed and 24 wounded in Israeli attacks in the war-battered Gaza Strip over the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The enclave’s Health Ministry said 1,421 people have now been killed and 4,983 wounded since a “ceasefire” took effect in October.

Israel has killed at least 74,022 Palestinians and wounded 175,980 since October 2023 when its genocidal war on Gaza began.

Drones stoke fear in Gaza as Israeli tanks advance near key highway

An Israeli drone targeted a residential building in Gaza City with two missiles. One Palestinian was killed in the attack and a number of casualties were brought to the Arab Hospital to receive emergency treatment.

We have observed the activation of a number of Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles that have been circling the sky of central Gaza.

Witnesses, specifically in al-Bureij refugee camp, confirmed Israeli tanks advanced this morning close to Salah al-Din Road, which raises the possibility of cutting off the main route linking northern and southern Gaza.

These attacks are still scaling up without any respite, and Palestinians on the ground still bear the brunt of ongoing Israeli army escalation.

Israel’s army claims Hamas fighter killed in Gaza

The Israeli military says its forces killed a Hamas fighter identified as Shadi Abu Hasira yesterday, claiming he was “a key money exchanger” in the Palestinian group’s military wing.

Abu Hasira was killed in an Israeli drone attack on a vehicle in the al-Sinaa area south of Gaza City, according to an al-Shifa Hospital source quoted by the Anadolu news agency. A funeral was held in Gaza City for Abu Hasira today.

At least four others were killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza on Sunday, according to local medical sources.

Behind the Dutch ban on goods from illegal Israeli colonies

  • The Dutch ban took effect on September 22. It prohibits the import, purchase and sale of goods from illegal Israeli settlements, and applies to companies as well as the “personal baggage of travelers”.
  • Local media, citing the government, said individuals or companies face up to six years in prison for violations, and fines may also be imposed. Unintentional violations could result in up to one year in prison.
  • Bilateral trade between the two countries totaled about $4.8bn last year, and the Netherlands is a major gateway for Israeli goods entering Europe. One study by the legal group Global Echo said the Netherlands accounted for a third of agricultural exports from the settlements.
  • The Dutch government says the settlements are unlawful under international law and that the ban reflects its obligation not to contribute to the situation.
  • The Dutch ban followed coordinated action by 12 countries, including the UK and France, to sanction goods from illegal Israeli settlements at the start of the month.

Netherlands says it regrets Israel’s decision to revoke diplomats’ accreditation

The Netherlands has criticised Israel’s decision to revoke the diplomatic accreditation of Dutch officials based in the occupied West Bank over the country’s ban on goods from Israeli settlements.

Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen said he regretted the “unnecessary” decision and said the Netherlands was weighing its response.

“Our temporary sanctions are not targeted against Israel, but stem from our obligation to not contribute to the unlawful situation ‌of the illegal settlements,” he said in a statement.

Israeli settlements and outposts on occupied Palestinian land are illegal under international law.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced on Sunday that Dutch diplomats working at the Netherlands ‌‌Representative Office in Ramallah must return their diplomatic documents issued by Israel within seven days.

Dutch protesters demand tougher action against Israel

Thousands of protesters across the Netherlands have rallied to demand tougher action against Israel.

The demonstrations come after Dutch authorities began implementing a ban on imports of any products from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Israel revokes immigration permits for 2 Jewish men over West Bank activism

Haaretz reports that Israeli authorities have revoked immigration permits for two young men who had worked with campaign groups to protect Palestinians from settler pogroms in the occupied West Bank.

The newspaper said the two men – British and US citizens – were notified that their permits had been revoked after the Jewish Agency for Israel, which processes immigration applications from people of Jewish heritage, had approved their applications.

According to Haaretz, Israel’s Population Authority did not say why it halted the immigration process, but it did not deny that the reason was their activism in protecting Palestinians from pogroms in the West Bank.

It said the Jewish Agency told the men that the Population Authority was “reviewing” their eligibility under the Entry into Israel Law, which regulates the entry of people who are not citizens or new immigrants.

Palestinian diplomats welcome ‘recent shifts in UK policy’

The Palestinian embassy in London says it welcomes “recent shifts in UK policy”.

In a post on X, the embassy called for “urgent action, accountability, and an end to Israel’s unlawful occupation”.

It showed diplomat Marwan Yaghi addressing a meeting organized by the Arise Festival and Labour Palestine in Liverpool before the Labour Party conference.

The UK recently announced sanctions on goods from illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, prompting Israel to close the British consulate in occupied East Jerusalem.

EU renews mandates for Palestinian border and police missions

European Union countries have renewed the mandates of two missions supporting Palestinian border personnel and police forces.

The EU Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point and the EU Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories have been extended by nine months, until the end of June 2027.

Israel’s Ben-Gvir enters Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Jewish holiday

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s office has released a video showing him entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Footage shows the far-right politician under the protection of Israeli police during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. He also reportedly performed religious rituals at the site under heavy security.

According to Israel’s 1967 “status quo”, the Israeli government allows the Waqf – the Jordanian-appointed body that manages the Al-Aqsa compound – to maintain day-to-day control of the area, and only Muslims are permitted to pray there.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan condemn Israeli provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the continued “provocative practices” of Israeli officials and settlers at Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem.

In a statement, the ministry denounced the latest assault on the site’s sanctity, as well as its religious and historical status.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning the “incursions” at the compound, calling them a “flagrant violation” of international law and international humanitarian law.

“A rejected escalation, an unacceptable provocation and a blatant breach of the prevailing historical and legal status quo at the Blessed Haram al-Sharif,” said the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its statement.

As we’ve been reporting, hundreds of Israelis stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under police protection earlier today. On the third day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, the Jerusalem governorate said Israeli forces closed intersections and streets surrounding the Old City that lead to the site, which Jews refer to as the Temple Mount.

Happened in the occupied West Bank

The Israeli army and settlers have carried out a series of raids, arrests and attacks against Palestinians and property across the occupied West Bank.

  • Israeli forces used stun-grenades and rubber bullets as they raided the Abu Taiyeh neighbourhood in the town of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem.
  • Israeli forces raided the village of Shuqba, west of Ramallah city. Israeli forces arrested Qusai Najib Nasan from his home in the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.
  • Israeli settlers stormed the al-Uzair shrine in the town of Ortta in the Nablus governorate.
  • Israeli forces used earthmovers to block the entrance to the Ein al-Beida area in the city of Jericho.
  • Palestinian journalist Nujoud Hamed was released after two weeks in Israeli detention.
  • Hundreds of Palestinians were forced to wait for hours after Israeli forces set up checkpoints at Jaba, Qalandiya, Anata and al-Jib, north of occupied East Jerusalem.

In one week, 147 Palestinians in occupied West Bank displaced by Israeli demolitions, says UN’s OCHA

A new United Nations report has said that during the week between September 15 and 21, demolitions carried out by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank displaced at least 147 Palestinians – more than triple the 2026 weekly average.

Israel’s restrictions on movement in and near the Ramallah governorate disrupted access to essential services for thousands of Palestinians, said the report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territory.

It added that “Israeli forces in Nablus temporarily displaced families and closed schools and a health clinic”.

Turning to the situation in Gaza, the OCHA report said shortages of medications are “disrupting life-saving services”. It attributed the scarcity to underfunding of the organisation and Israel’s lack of clearance of the services.

About 200,000 children remain out of school across Gaza amid funding shortfalls, the report said.

West Bank journalist freed after 2 weeks in Israeli detention

After 13 days at Damon Prison, Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed has been released by by an Israeli court.

Hamed was detained on September 15 at the Tuqu checkpoint on her way back from a reporting assignment. She was separated from the rest of her camera crew and transferred to an undisclosed facility, where she was subjected to harsh interrogation.

Israeli media reported at the time that Hamed was being detained for “cooperating with an enemy entity and may also be under suspicion of espionage”.

She previously worked for Press TV, an English-language Iranian network, as its correspondent in the occupied West Bank.

US deputy envoy to UN accuses Palestinian president of failing to meet commitments

Jennifer Locetta, US deputy ambassador to the UN, has accused Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of not following through on the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) commitment to ending its “financial and ideological support for terrorism”.

“That is why the United States continues to maintain sanctions on the PA and the Palestine Liberation Organization,” Locetta said at the UN Security Council (UNSC).

During his speech last week at the 81st UN General Assembly, Abbas rejected the US’s denial of his attendance and “the accusations and justifications on which they were based”.

“We affirm that we have fulfilled our obligations, carried out a comprehensive national reform program,” he said, adding that the PA, “upheld our commitment to international law to shunning violence and terrorism”.

At the UNSC meeting, Locetta reiterated that the US-led Board of Peace seeks the “complete disarmament and demobilization of Hamas”.
