Lebanon’s PM vows thorough probe after explosives-laden truck seized
Lebanon’s PM Nawaf Salam says authorities will pursue suspected Hezbollah members involved in transporting explosives to Beirut.
Last week, security forces seized a truck on a highway linking Beirut to the Bekaa Valley, according to Information Minister Paul Morcos. Two men were detained.
Judicial officials said the truck was carrying 780kg (1,720lb) of explosives.
The two suspects said they had been instructed to transport the material but did not know its intended use. Hezbollah has not commented.
The Lebanese government declared Hezbollah’s military activities illegal in March. Salam pledged a thorough investigation to identify all of those involved.
