Israeli army attacks southern Lebanon

An Israeli air strike has targeted the Wadi al-Hujair area in southern Lebanon. Another aerial attack hit the outskirts of the town of Kfar Tebnit in the Nabatieh district.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Lebanon’s leaders have called for an end to the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon and the full enforcement of the “ceasefire”, as Israeli shelling and demolitions continue.

More than 60 towns in the war-battered south are still occupied by the Israeli army as troops carrying out a systematic campaign of home demolitions to keep civilians from returning.

"..systematic campaign of home demolitions to keep civilians from returning."

This is similar to what the Israelis have done in Rafah, Southern Gaza, therefore a war crime and crimes against humanity, as it has nothing to do with "evacuation" but preparation for annexation via "occupation."

More Israeli attacks reported in southern Lebanon

Israeli forces have attacked towns across southern Lebanon with artillery and air strikes, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

The town of Mansouri is being hit with intermittent artillery shelling, launched from positions in occupied Lebanese territory south of the city of Tyre.

Mansouri sits close to occupied Lebanese territory, and has seen frequent attacks by Israel since it invaded Lebanon.

The agency also reported that Israel carried out a bombing Barashit in the Bint Jbeil district.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the attacks.

These attacks are in addition to the aerial bombing of Kfar Tebnit and Wadi al-Hujair reported earlier.

Israeli munition detonates in southern Lebanon

A munition from Israeli attacks exploded on the outskirts of the town of Srifa in southern Lebanon.

No injuries were reported, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.

The incident comes during continued Israeli escalation against villages and towns across southern Lebanon despite two truce agreements – on June 4 and 26 – mediated by the Trump administration.

Since March 2, when the latest Israeli escalation in its war on Lebanon began, Israeli attacks have killed more than 4,000 people and injured at least 12,000 others, while forcing more than one million people from their homes.

Israeli air strike hits Haddatha in southern Lebanon

Israeli jets have struck the town of Haddatha in Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil district, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency is reporting.

Israeli forces carry out large detonation in southern Lebanon

Israeli forces have carried out a large detonation in the Wadi Hassan area in the western sector of south Lebanon, on the outskirts of the town of Majdal Zoun, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency is reporting.

Lebanon cannot ‘sit and wait’ for US-Iran settlement

Lebanese PM Nawaf Salam says the country cannot “sit and wait” for a US-Iran settlement, adding that “if it happens, that’s good. And if it doesn’t happen, are we to remain sitting and waiting”.

According to a series of posts by his office on X relaying his remarks to Lebanese broadcaster NBN, he also said: “We are certainly affected by all regional variables”.

“The state cannot remain in a state of waiting. We must head south and to all regions and bear our responsibilities.”

Salam said “not a day passes” without reaffirming that Lebanon’s goal is the complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory. He also called for an end to Israeli attacks, a solidified ceasefire and work toward the release of prisoners.

Lebanese PM says country wants ‘new page’ with Iran

Lebanon’s PM Salam says the country wants to open a new chapter in relations with Iran based on mutual respect and noninterference, according to posts by his office on X relaying his remarks to NBN.

Salam said he has accepted a meeting requested by Iran’s President Pezeshkian, adding that “we do not interfere in Iran’s affairs”. That was in response to a question asking him whether Lebanon had ever supported an opposition faction in Iran, taken sides in a domestic confrontation or interfered in Iranians’ political choices.

Noting the long history of ties between the two countries, Salam said Lebanon would prefer that Iran appoint a new ambassador, because that would ease the move to a new stage in relations.

He said authorities renewed the Iranian ambassador’s residence permit for three months “as a citizen” but not in his previous diplomatic capacity.
